At first, my family and I were concerned that we might have put ourselves in a town with not much going for it food-wise. Depoe Bay is tiny. We weren't sure what we were going to do for dinner, and so we settled on going here, to Tidal Raves. Talk about falling upstairs! The views are breathtaking and the service staff are quirky and fun (we didn't have a reservation, so we joked that we were here to cause trouble. The owner laughed and said, "I have a table right here where I can keep an eye on you then"). The food, while not cheap was awesome! I highly recommend the pan fried oysters- they were the best I had on the entire Oregon coast. The place is small, full of mostly older married couples, but the decor is very spacious and modern. Huge, wall to wall windows open up on the Pacific, a short cliff drop away. It has to be an incredible place to take a date.

Today 4 of us drove to Depot Bay to have lunch at the Tidal Raves Restaurant. The leisurely drive from Eugene took us 3hours.Since we had reservations we only waited 15min. For a window table overlooking the ocean. Our waitress Jennette was pleasant, patient and prompt. The food was colorful and had a beautiful presentation. Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked to perfection. We highly recommend the ciopino, clam chowder and snapper. The deserts were to die for and such a variety was offered. We are all Raving about this delightful experience today and will recommend our friends in Eugene to make a coast trip to Tidal Raves in Depot Bay. One last thought ----the prices were very reasonable. We are already planning our next visit there. Karen Grace Del Valle

We've eaten here before for dinner on the advice of a B&B owner, for a special occasion dinner. That meal was a memorably romantic dinner a few years back. Today while cruising back up the coast toward Salishan about 1:00, we decided it was time for a light lunch a few hours before our scheduled massages. So, without reservations we decided to stop in. We weren't disappointed. As most have noted, the VIEW IS TREMENDOUS and surprisingly, for a sunny Saturday in February, at lunchtime, we were immediately seated at a window seat. The wife had the crabcakes and I had the panfried Pacific oysters. Both lunches came with bread as well as a choice of soups or a small shrimp salad. We chose the latter. The salads were perfectly portioned for a light lunch and delightful. The bread was a hearty sourdough. The wife said her crabcakes (2) were very good, and even noted chuncks of crab, easily seen on the outer surface of a perfectly seared cake, the inside of which was equally tasty and creamy with sufficient meat to determine it was indeed a crab cake. These were served along with a light and fluffy rice pilaf and sauteed vegetables. My oysters came just the way I like them; small, lightly dusted with seasoned flour and flash-fried in a pan, so as not to overcook them. They were perfect. A side of crispy fries completed my meal. Our waiter paced our lunch precisely, kept our waters and my iced tea topped off without our even having to request it (an indicator of great service) and was all anyone could expect of a server. All in all a great meal. We commend this establishment to all Yelpers out there and congratulate the owners on doing a fine job.

During my honeymoon on the OR coast, every local we met recommended Tidal Raves. If this is the best local fare this charming city has to offer then the locals need to travel outside of town and fast. Outside of our 45 minute wait on a Monday night and the herds of 65+ couples looking to rekindle their love lives - this restaurant has some hope and potential. What was most surprising is that this place is always busy. Despite the full parking lot, I can't imagine that anyone truly leaves happy. I had the seared scallops and my husband had an Italian seafood dish. While a table across the room raved about their scallops, mine were still squishy, undercooked and barely seared. The Italian dish had a great broth but that's where that dish ended. The flavors did not meld and it all felt and tasted thrown together. One plus side was that the portions were large but not fulfilling. Despite feeling a bit let down by the coast-to-plate mediocrity, we brought back some Key Lime Pie with the hope that it would redeem Tidal Raves. Nope. Everything about it tasted store bought. If you're in Depoe Bay, for whatever occasion, you might want to steer clear of Tidal Raves. For dishes that were $15-30 a meal, you might be better off going a block up the road to the hole-in-the-wall Tidal Pool Pub & Pool. They at least knew what they were and embraced it and surprised us with good prices and surprisingly good food. But if you choose to not heed in my advice, make sure you at least call ahead with a reservation, put on your best pair of boat shoes, short shorts, and sweatshirt over polo outfit and make your way to Tidal Raves.

Tidal Raves has been one of our very favorite restaurants....anywhere...for years. Had lunch there today, and it was simply fabulous. Also has one of the best ocean views on the Oregon coast.

View is spectacular, 5 star. The atmosphere was great, quiet enough, and tasteful decor. Service was very good. Food was not. I had steamed clams in alleged port broth, and the flavor was edgy in a bad way. I had the scallop dinner, with some smoked tomato glaze, which was too sweet and flat out weird. I love scallops and order them often in restaurants, and these were well cooked (not raw, not rubbery), but I just could not understand the flavors. It came with some potato concoction that also had a strange, smoky taste. After 17 years in San Francisco I have to say that this food does not hold up to even average for fine dining. The prices are reasonable, but I was confused by the chef's pallet. Even desert was not great. You're better off at the Black Fish in Lincoln City. I was disappointed.

Our hosts at a local bed and breakfast recommended this place as the best nearby and I was not disappointed! The appetizer crab cakes were huge but didn't have a ton of crab flavor so I would pass were I to go again. But my main course was FANTASTIC! I had the special that night -- a locally caught Ling Cod in an orange butter sauce with some delicious veggies. The fish was cooked to perfection and the sauce was original and really tasty. The portion was quite generous. My partner in crime had tiger prawns in a pesto and veggie sauce and was a little disappointed but I was so busy with my fish I didn't try it. The view was spectacular and with reservations we were seated immediately right by the window.

Last Friday after a long walk on the beach - a walk that felt more like a hike, on the Oregon coast, we decided to eat dinner at Tidal Raves, one of our favorite restaurants, before driving home. We called and got put on the walk-in list as we neared the end of our walk, but we missed the estimated time by about ten or fifteen minutes. The hostess was very nice and put us back in the queue but not at the very end. The place was crowded as usual. The views of the cliffs and the ocean were as spectacular as always. The food was delicious and beautifully served. My Vegetable Stir Fry was so filling I couldn't finish it, so my husband did. My husband really enjoyed his Green Curry Halibut. My Spicy Margarita was a nice change of pace of a regular margarita but I don't know if I would order it again. My husband ordered a Rouge Dead Guy's Ale and said it was good. The Chocolate Caramel-Nut Truffle we shared for dessert was divine. The menu describes it as "sinfully decadent" - believe it. Sevice on the other hand was lacking. Our waiter didn't smile as he approached our table. He took our order in quick businesslike fashion without ever giving off the slightest of a friendly vibe. We watched other tables receive baskets of bread as we sipped our drinks and waited on our entrees. Our waiter never showed with ours. We finally asked for one when he brought our entrees. He returned to the table while we ate our entrees and inquired how my husband's meal was but didn't ask about mine. He never smiled and his attitude left us feeling like he didn't want to serve us. This is the first time I've had bad service in Tidal Raves. I hope it was simply a bad night for our waiter and not an indication service is on the decline. If not for the waiter's attitude, Tidal Raves would earn 5 stars from me.

Tidal Raves is one of my family's favorite places to stop for lunch on our way into Yachats. We've visited several times and have never received bad food or poor service. I notice the majority of the negative reviews are in response to dinner service, not lunch. I've never eaten at Tidal Raves for dinner so I can't speak to their service then. As usual, last Friday I ordered the crab cakes and they were delicious. Tidal Raves serves some of the largest crab cakes I've ever ordered in a restaurant. They are chock full of crab meat, not bread crumbs. (It doesn't hurt that it's a great year for crab.) My father enjoyed his fried oyster po' boy, while my mother and grandmother both complimented their crab cake sandwiches. The views of the ocean from Tidal Raves are incredible. Rest assured, all the seats are by the window. There isn't a bad seat in the entire restaurant.

We eat here each time we visit the Oregon Coast. The food is always great, the view is fantastic, the staff is great and the wine selection is fabulous. Make sure to make your reservation early, this place is always packed and without one, you will wait for a while, although well worth the wait.

Feeling hungry for some seafood, Tidal Raves does not dissapoint. I had a hearty bowl of cioppino that was loaded with tasy morsels. My wife had a very tasty bowl of clam chowder all with a great view of the ocean. We were even lucky enough to see some whales frolicking in the ocean!

First thing to know about this place is that it is BUSY! If you go there for dinner, GET A RESERVATION! We saw them turn away about 10 groups while we were waiting for our table to be available. One group was a young couple on a date. The look of disappointment on her face was something! That guy is probably still in the dog house. Anyway, despite being there with a large group, our waitress was expedient, friendly, and knowledgeable. We were sitting at the table by the big window that many other reviewers have mentioned. Great view, but if you are there on the rare occasion that the sun is out, prepare to be partially blinded as the sun sets. Those windows do not have shades! So, 12 people in our party. Every single one loved what they ordered, pretty much unequivocally. I had the Spicy Margarita, the Cioppino ($21), and the Key Lime Pie. The margarita was made with habanero-infused tequila and packed a delightful burning sensation in the throat. I made a mental note to try to replicate that at home sometime. I was really happy with the Cioppino, not only because I was the only one at the table who ordered it, but because it was quite tasty. Lots of shrimp, fish, scallops, crab, and clams in a nice tomato broth. The presentation was very pleasing, too. It came with accessories! (a clam fork, soup spoon, bib, and grilled bread). I meant to take a picture but I forgot because it looked too good to wait. My only criticism was that the broth could have used a little more pizzazz, a little more bite, a little more spice. And two thin strips of grilled bread don't cut it for sopping up the broth. Good thing they give you plenty of sourdough baguette at the table to use instead. The Key Lime Pie was decent, though somewhat bland (would have liked it to be a bit more tart). Also, the texture was a bit rubbery (like it was made a day or two ago). Judging by my meal and my dining companions' meals, the things to order are: - Cioppino - Dungeness Crab Casserole - Smoked Salmon Chowder - Salmon with Crab Risotto (it's called something else on the menu) - Coconut-Crusted Tiger Shrimp - Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - Chocolate-Nut Torte

Stopped here for dinner on my last trip to the coast! The service, food, and dessert was amazing! I would recommend this place to anyone! The price maybe slightly on the higher scale, but nothing too extraordinary. The crab casserole and smoked salmon were sooo good! The salmon chowder is amazing too! Overall, this place was awesome, and I would come back to eat again! It was dark out, so I didn't get to see the view - but it is a prime spot for an awesome view too!

My boyfriend and I had lunch here last weekend, and the whole experience was great! He loved his crabcake sandwich and I love my fish-n-chips. Absolutely beautiful view from almost all of the tables. Definitely will be back again!

This restaurant has awesome food - the steamed clams and smoked shrimp appetizers are to die for - the atmosphere is great although cloth tablecloths would go a long way - great service and management - we were in Depoe for a week and had lunch once and dinner twice!

Went there last week and I can truly say it was fabulous! Best razor clams ever, delicious spinach/oyster soup, ohmygosh, everything was wonderful! Kind of expensive, but so worth it.

This place is worth the money, the seafood is excellent and uniquely prepared. It's tough to get a reservation, but worth it if you plan ahead. I read about this place in Portland Monthly magazine and it lived up to our expectations. It's a bit spendy and fancy for the beach (where everything else tends to be casual), but also makes for a special night out. We thought the service was great, the view is amazing and food was excellent. They did seem a bit overbooked (we had a reservation and still had to wait), but it was worth it.

  • L. T.

Went with a group that HAD reservations which were made two weeks in advance and confirmed the day prior to our visit. We were split up into tables of four scattered around the dining room (weird, but whatever). Food was expensive and not at all memorable What WAS memorable was being told by the manager that the place is not wheelchair accessible and that we'd have to push me in my wheelchair down a 70- degree sloped parking lot and wait OUTSIDE in howling, freezing wind for our table at which time (40 minutes later) the manager would figure something out with the tables. Hey, Tidal Raves: Guess which finger I'm holding up!

Incredible view of the ocean. The service was terrific. The coconut shrimp was exactly as described and really good. My significant other had the char-grilled salmon with salsa. The salmon was pretty tasteless, overwhelmed by the salsa. The place is pricey, so go in knowing that. Worth the visit, not worth going out of your way for.

This is one of the best places on the Oregon Coast. Consistently good food and service. My wife loves the fish tacos served either with grilled or breaded halibut. My favorite is a seafood combo in garlic butter sauce. Outstanding Ocean views, great service.

always so HAPPY to eat here. Great views, great food, great desserts. The last time I ate here I had from the lighter menu a curry and fish dish. Wonderful! And the cheesecake that night had an orangesickle topping. It was so good we bought two to go for the next night. Great prices and highly recommend.

Food here was pretty good. Not overly done and not too greasy, overall a very enjoyable experience. Biggest problem was the next day i went to Restaurant Beck down the street and was blown away, so the food here paled in comparison

Unpretentious place with a fabulous site right on the ocean. Smoked salmon chowder was excellent. I had terrific razor clams while friend had great halibut. Bread pud was good. Not very expensive considering quality of food.

  • Monica B.

Oh my goodness!! The view is as good as it gets. The food was acceptable and the waitstaff was SO friendly!! We ordered dessert at least 20 minutes after they closed and they didn't have a care!! We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table by the window so we could see the ocean while we ate, but it was so worth it. My only complaint is that they did not have a full bar, just wine and beer. But, I saw a sign that it was coming soon so I still give it 5 stars. Plus, if you visit Oregon you pretty much have to become a wine-o because liquor is hard to find!! I am just a girl from Kansas, so put me next to the ocean anywhere and give me food and wine and I will be very happy :)

  • Lana S.

Good food, but trying to better than what it really is. They are kind of pumping you up for fine dining and then you taste the food and some is great but some is a miss. I think it's not over-priced but only because of the stunning view. The food is mediocre to good, not great. The night I went the service was also sub par. Good thing we weren't in need of going anywhere, although we could have and made it back in time for our drinks to arrive.

Friends recommended this place as the most romantic on the Oregon Coast, and that it has superb cuisine. They said this is a restaurant not to be missed. From previous Yelp reviews, we had high expectations. When we arrived, there were about 20 people in line waiting for tables. We had a reservation, but were told things were running a little later than expected. No place to sit and wait, as there were so many others waiting for tables. No bar to relax for a cocktail. So we just went outside until our name was called. It was only about 20 minutes past our reservation time, so not a huge deal. The view is totally spectacular. Very breathtaking seeing waves crash over rocks at the bayfront. We were given a nice window table, so we could really enjoy the views. The rest was all downhill. Next to us was a very boisterous and loud table of 10 including 4 children that were completely unruly and noisy. The noise level in the restaurant in general is very high, and far from "romantic" as my friends told us. Perhaps they were there on a slow night. I ordered crab cakes appetizer. They were huge in size, but very heavily breaded, and the crab seemed almost non-existent. The steamers were very tiny, and not very tasty. For the main course, we decided maybe something from the steak menu would be a better choice. We all ordered Rib Eyes. They were unanimously tough, thin and overcooked. Overall, I would rate the view 5 stars, and service 2 stars. Food was definitely one star at best. I will give this place another try on a less busy night, to see if things are any better.

I've been here several times and never had a bad experience. The view is spectacular, and their food is wonderful (the warm goat cheese tart in particular is absolutely to die for). Yes, it is true you have to wait, even with a reservation, but you can hardly blame the staff for that. It's just that popular. It's just that good. It's just that worth the wait. Go find a McDonald's if you're just that impatient.

  • Emily D.

We went here based on a review we saw in our AAA book. By far, the best thing about the restaurant is the view. I agree with others that this is really a 'must' but not because of the food or service-only the views. We went on a Friday afternoon for lunch along with a slue of blue-haired elderly folks celebrating what appeared to be a 109th birthday but was probably somewhere in the 80s range. The meal was very average. I went with the special ahi tuna salad and was not impressed. My boyfriend had the crab cake sand witch which was a major SLIP being from Maryland. We both enjoyed each other, the unbelievable view, our empty glasses-but certainly not the food.

My husband and I tried this restaurant at the recommendation of the staff at The Channel House (make sure you check out the review on this fab Bed and Breakfast). Who would have thought you would need a reservation at ANY restaurant in Depoe Bay in February? Well this is the place to call ahead. Luckily, we were able to squeeze in a table for two to our appetite's delight. With a VIP box seat to the ocean, fresh seafood is of course the specialty in this upscale restaurant. I chose the evening's trout special with a wonderful lemon butter sauce over garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables. My husband's dietary needs were easily accommodated by our attentive waiter. He checked on every item to make sure it was void of dairy, tomatoes or onions and highly recommended the prosciutto wrapped giant prawns. (They really were giant). A nice bottle of chardonnay was the perfect match to our meal. Our basket of bread was never left empty and the staff was very pleasant. We will definitely be back to visit Tidal Raves again.

Probably one of the best seafood restaurants on the Oregon Coast. It is best to call ahead for reservations. Service can be slow at the busiest times but the view makes waiting easy and relaxing. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. It can be pricey at dinner, lunches are more reasonably priced.

Love this restaurant. Great view!!! Good service. Excellent and plentiful food. Great bread. Did I mention the view? Did I mention the food? I had the seafood linguine with pesto. The pesto was perfectly balanced, tons of yummy fish, clams, crab etc. I had plenty of leftovers for a large other meal. We also really loved the seahawk bread. Sinful and good. We have been here many times over the years and always enjoy it. Oh, and the prices are very reasonable too!

I am not a fan of seafood so why go to a restaurant that serves seafood right? Wrong! Every time we come into town we stop by for a pint of their tarter sauce. It is the best around!! I have eaten there and it a wonderful atmosphere with friendly staff.

Usually you find yourself choosing between the good food or good view, not the case at Tidal Raves. We asked to wait for a table with a view even though all the tables seemed to have one. The wait was not long and we found ourselves sitting by the large window with a view that does not end. The staff definitely went out of there way to keep the four year old and toddler in our party happy and answered all our questions about the food with ease. We ordered a wide variety of things including the crab cakes and calamari which came with a cilantro lime sauce that I then dipped anything in till it was sadly gone. All of the soups were fantastic I especially enjoyed the oyster spinach bisque and the great sourdough bread for dipping. We thought we were all happy and then the bread pudding came out. Being a favorite dessert of mine I am picky but must always give each restaurant a try, it did not let me down. The hard bourbon sauce may have been heavy on the bourbon however the orange marmalade flavor they used combined just right with the other favors and the moist bread pudding itself. We will be back next time we are in town.

  • Cameron L.

Nice view if you are seated by the window. But it's too bad the food sucks. The overarching theme of the food is the dreaded SYSCO. The food tasted generic and boring. I got the rib eye and it had that old meat flavor to it. My date ordered some seafood pasta casserole dish. It had a nice flavor, but took 20 minutes to get to cool enough where it could be eaten without causing severe tongue burns. Is that petty to complain that something is too hot? I think the problem was that the casserole dish was thick and maintained the temperature for too long. The end result was that she had to wait 20 minutes to eat the food. One standout was the smoked salmon chowder. It was nice. The service was impersonal and rushed. When we were half done with our meals the server asked us if we wanted to see a desert menu. Not cool. We would have been less displeased if we didn't spend $60 for this meh meal (with a beer each). You'd be much better off picking up a sandwich or a bag of Fritos from some deli in town and eating it on the beach.

Ok... So I read all the reviews and I get it! I've been here many times but only for steamed clams and the other appetizers, wine and halibut tacos.and the VIEW!! If you like garlic, you'll love the steamers. Get lots of bread! So good! Maybe the not so good reviews are for the dinners... Haven't tried them! Otherwise, I don't really get why the reviews aren't great.

Not a bad seafood grill. My wife and I stayed in depoe bay for the weekend. We had heard good things about this place and decided to try it out. Not too bad. I had the thai bbq prawns. The were giant and very well prepared. My wife had the grilled ling cod fillet and was happy with it. All in all not too bad. The seating service was below par though. We made reservations for 730 and it was 810 when they sat us. It wouldn't have been so bad but no bar to wait and have a cocktail.

    (3)
  • Tyler K.

Food was a 4 star service was a 1. We didn't get helped for 15 minutes after we were sat and the waitress just asked us what we were having without even going over Any specials. We didn't get our drinks for another 20 minutes. I understand it's busy at 8 on a Friday night but it really took away from the food which was excellent once it came. We had a great goat cheese torte for an appetizer and our entrees were fresh and excellent. The menu had a great selection of local dishes and the Razor clams gave us remorse once we saw how great they looked at the table next to us. I would go back in hopes of better service and a great sunset view with the same great food.

  • Mary M.

My husband and I thought this restaurant was wonderful! We sat right next to the window and had the most perfect view. He loved the fish he ordered, and my steak was nice...I just wish they had more choices for non-fish lovers like me. I know it is a seafood place, but when one person loves fish and the other doesn't, it makes it difficult to find a good restaurant if there are limited menu options. Definitely need reservs--we resorted to eating at 4:45 in order to be seated.

The locals told me this was Depoe Bay's best restaurant. My wife and I also thought it was great. She had the beer-battered Alaskan halibut fish and chips, which came with a side of slaw. In her words, "It hit the spot!" I had the green curry with halibut entree. The presentation was masterful, as were the Thai-inspired flavors. I paired my meal with a Deschutes Mirror Pond pale ale. It was a perfect meal, complemented by great service and a breathtaking view of Depoe Bay. Keep your eyes peeled for spouting gray whales.

  • Richard G.

Nicest restaurant in Depoe Bay. Food quality was very good and prices reasonable for the level of restaurant it is. Go early or make a reservation. We all had various seafood dishes and were quite pleased. We started by splitting their version of a crab louie salad - we'll do that again. Clam Chowder was good but the Spinach and Oyster Bisque was even better. Desserts were the only (mild) disappointment - chocolate chip cookie was overdone and bread pudding's whiskey sauce was way too strong.

An unexpected GEM in a one horse town! Truly remarkable restaurant in a little known town on the Oregon Coast. The meal was everything we dreamed of: awesome seafood (my favorite - the SOFTBALL-SIZED SCALLOPS!) delicious wine. Whales pass by and spout as you gaze out of the gigantic wall of windows. Really, there isn't a bad seat in the place, and the service was beyond excellent. I hardly think we could have eaten any better at the overpriced Bayhouse, whose menu wasn't nearly as interesting. First rate, highly recommended. Pros:I might come back to Depoe Bay just to eat here again! Cons:Tight parking lot, long wait - even though we had reservations

Ok so my BF and I drove from Seaside to Newport in search of adventure, we found it alright but searching for adventure you do tend to get a little hungry.... we figured if we are on the coast we want to experience FRESH seafood in a quaint atmosphere.... we ran into Tidal Raves.... it was very crowded when we got here, the crowds came in by groups of 10 or more to get a table, we thought we were going to wait forever, but we were seated fairly quickly, I think we got lucky, I do recommend making a reservation first if you are not searching on a whim. The view is AMAZING!!! The atmosphere was AMAZING!!! To have dinner and look out the windows into infinite water truly amazing. My BF ordered the mixed platter which came with shrimp, oysters, and mahi mahi all coated with panko and fried, with fries, they were not little portions by any means, I ordered the 10 oz ribeye steak with fingerling potatoes and veggies. The presentation of my plate made me feel like I was in a very uppity restaurant - BTW I was dressed in cargo capris, a t-shirt and a raggedy ripped zip up hoody (which is my fav that's why I keep wearing it) and my BF was in jeans, polo shirt and a baseball cap, and we were not treated or looked at differently :).... THE FOOD WAS AWESOME!!! Tasty not to over seasoned or salty and the staff was soooo FRIENDLY and accomodating always making sure we had everything we needed and didn't get other than excellent treatment, even the way we were dressed!!! I say make a reservation and get seating by the big windows!!!! Portions was not a problem!

The restaurant offers a 5-star view and is one of the nicer restaurants on the Oregon coast. It is always crowded and we thought we had chosen wisely in making a dinner reservation over a week in advance. When we arrived, they did not have us in their reservation book. A complete disappointment. After a short wait, they did seat us at a small table, close to the kitchen. I suppose that's the best they could do considering, but again, it was a disappointment. The service was quick and good. Their wine list was mediocre and didn't feature as much Oregon wine as expected. The menu has a good variety with a strong Pacific NW and Seafood influence. We had a Salmon special that was quite good but the Thai shrimp dish was bland and basic. The Key Lime dessert was average, but not bad. A really strange mix of patrons dressed nicely to guys in flip flops and ball caps. The noise level, at full capacity, was really loud and not the initmate environment that we had hoped for or heard about. Overall, a good experience, and we'd probably try it again, but I'm not "raving" about it. A reservation is a must and I'd suggest calling to confirm the day before!

This place has the best view in the Lincoln City/Depot Bay area and the menu is good. The fish and chips is great--much better than Moes, and I like the different types of chowder. I've also had good luck with shellfish.

Like a previous reviewer, I am torn as to whether to give a four-star restaurant five stars, or give it the four stars it deserves. Because he has already taken the five star route, I will give this restaurant what it solidly deserves. First up: the view. It's the thing you notice first when you pull into the parking lot of the restaurant, and the thing that hits you over the head while seated at any table in the venue. It's intoxicating -- the waves, the rocks, the secret hope of seeing a whale scoot into your field of view -- make for a fantastic backdrop. The decor of the restaurant is much smoother inside than it is outside: black ceilings, black and white photographs on earth-tone walls, wrought iron abstract marine sculptures along the tops of the wall of windows facing the water. No good places to wait, but we've never had to wait for this restaurant -- just go for an early dinner (4-5ish), and you'll be seated immediately. The food is above average, especially given the price and direct comparison to some of the other restaurants in the Lincoln City / Newport area. The spinach oyster bisque is wonderful, though the clam chowder is so-so (not enough "claminess" to it). I have never gone wrong with the nightly special, which in our last visit was coconut and peanut crusted halibut cheeks in a red curry sauce with Asian vegetables and rice. If you haven't had halibut cheeks before, they are just what they seem to be -- the chubby cheeks of that wonderful-tasting white-fleshed fish. Rather than having a flaky texture, they have more of a soft, tender scallop-like texture to them. The halibut cheeks were perfectly cooked, and the coconut peanut crust was a great counterpoint to the only-slightly-spicy red curry sauce. My wife and son got the ribeye with porcini butter, which is "in-house aged" and served with fingerling potatoes and grilled vegetables. My wife had to have it re-fired to get it more to her liking (ordered it as medium, but it came out decidedly medium-rare). The steak had a light, flavorful rub on it, and the meat texture was about what I would have expected for the price, though my wife was less impressed ("It was better than some, not nearly as good as others," she said). Desserts for the meal were the Kentucky bourbon bread pudding and tiramisu. The bread pudding certainly had some bourbon to it -- I secretly hoped we wouldn't hit a sobriety checkpoint on the way home, there was so much of a kick to it. There is some orange zest in the bread pudding that was a big turnoff to my wife's sophisticated bread pudding sensibilities, but I was fine with it. The tiramisu was light and not too sweet whatsoever, though I would have preferred a stronger espresso flavor. The coffee served with dessert was a reasonable dark roast -- typical West Coast dark without the burned Starbucks-ness hangover (sorry, Starbucks, but you have to know that your coffee does taste "burnt" in comparison to other dark roasts...). The service was personable, prompt, attentive, and genuine -- drinks were pre-emptively refilled, the dishes were taken away promptly, and though there were people waiting for our table, we never once felt rushed. The three of us walked out of Tidal Raves with soups, entrees, dessert, and coffee for well under a hundred bucks. Great service, above average food, fantastic view -- and all for less than a Benjamin.

We passed TR's and I remembered that I had seen it on Yelp so I told my husband to "stop the car NOW...lets eat here'' We were sat within 10 minutes and the restaurant seemed to be quite busy for a Wednesday afternoon. The view is amazing, the food is okay. I think people really enjoy this place for the view, and in turn people think the view makes the food taste better. I ate the fish and chips which tasted bland, the smoked salmon chowder was really good though. DH ate the grilled halibut fish tacos which were good. The food wasn't bad but it was just okay. We've had better....the view is what you are here for, not the food.

i could've gone with three n' a half stars, but this will have to do. i go here pretty frequently when i stay out at the pad in gleneden. it's pretty much no-frills (short of the view), but there are some dishes that stand tall... the pasta rave is a safe bet, the cioppino is delicious... the fish and chips are among the best on the coast. anyhoo, i like this place because of it's low-key attitude and dependability. the service is nice, it's clean, and it's got a bourbon or two, and that's a big deal for a guy like me.

You can't knock the view, no matter where you're sitting you over look Depoe Bay but I don't go to a place just for the view. Tidal Raves has good food too. Their lunches are affordable and are not short on portion size. My friend ordered the crab cakes and I've never seen crab cakes that large. I ordered the razor clams and was in love. The lunch entree came with your choice of soup or salad, I chose salad with the white balsamic vinegarette. It was outstanding, a nice plate of mixed greens topped with grape tomatoes, dried cranberries and curried slivered almonds. There is a reason why Tidal Raves stays while eateries in come and go. If you're in the mood for great food and a great view, go.

Best meal we had at the coast. Lunch was reasonable and the food and service was good. I'd come back.

Many excellent things about this restaraunt. One big one is that it offers a beautiful view of the Oregon coast, the atmosphere was nice and I would consider it a great date night location. I was there however with a group if friends. A couple of them had the fish tacos and gobbled them up, one said the back beans were excellent. The was a bowl of ciaopinno at the table that I managed to steal a taste of, also very good. We had the fried oyster appetizer which was excellent as was my choice of the pasta rave. I got half and half on the sauce Alfredo and pesto, and the pesto was my favorite. We all enjoyed wine and cocktails and never felt rushed to leave enjoying our meals for two hours. The only slight complaints would be that my husband steak was a little over done (though still very juicy and tasty) and that the cocktails seemed to come a little slow. At the end of the night stuffed full we took dessert to go, key lime pie and a cheescake with a maple sauce. Both really really good.

Dropped by for dinner on the recommendation of our innkeeper. Staff was pleasant, and we had a table with a great view. First ordered a martini, which was served lukewarm. Second - ordered the Seahawk bread partially on recommendation of Yelpers. Big meh there, it was a sub sandwich roll with a little bit of smoked salmon, shrimp and some onions and barely melted cheese. The photo here is an exaggeration. Entrees: my wife (vegetarian) ordered a stir fry which she said was good but sloppily sauced. I ordered salmon with basil salsa. It was flavorful but cooked to the point of dryness. Dessert- key lime pie, which I order anytime I see it on a menu. Ranked middle of the pack. So overall, for the price paid I say only so-so.

Been there a couple times as we drive up and down the coast. Once pre-kid and once with a six year old. This place has an amazing view and pretty good but not great food - nice to get a window seat, look out at the ocean with a glass of wine. Location, location, location!

You have to eat here, if for no other reason than the spectacular view. Beyond that, the seafood is really quite good and the service decent. If you want a guaranteed quiet, adult dining experience, well, you ARE at the Coast! I have been to Tidal Raves when there were a lot of noisy families, and other times when it was hushed and downright romantic. Head on up the road to the Bay House for something more reliably posh and quiet.

I stopped there last fall and got Razer Clams. I asked the server about the quailty and he said that they were very popular. I got an order. I did not like the breading and the way the clams were cooked. I sent them back. I had never sent food back in my life before this. I wasn't going to pay a moderate price for bad food. I would not eat there again. They did have a good few though.

The dining room is very simply furnished, but the spectacular view of the ocean is what really provides the atmosphere. And the food here was excellent. We had crab cakes, vegetables with ginger sauce, and the snapper. Everything was "DEE-LISH".

Geez, and it looks so NICE! But oh the food was not good. The service was great, the prices are not too bad. But THE FOOD - DARN IT. I really, really wanted to like my second trip here. But my oysters were not fresh (don't offer them unless they are pristine!) and then my main course, Scallops over pasta, was mediocre at best. The scallops were good, sweet and big, but undercooked. The pasta (putanesca sauced) was harsh, to use the term hubby said after one bite. Not too hot, just HARSH. The pasta itself was overdone. Husband's dish was better, pesto seafood over linguini, and we took that with us, but I left the entire pasta part of my scallop dish there. We were so disappointed that we didn't even want to try dessert there. Next time, we'll skip it, even with the lovely view. Just not willing to be disappointed a third time. For those of you not looking for fine dining, but more casually prepared food and especially those who drink, I think this place is a fine choice. A few beers or some good wine, or a cocktail, would have gone a LONG way toward making this review more stars. So go for the view and the booze, and you'll like the food.

This is a beautiful restaurant with an even better view! We had a reservation for dinner. The restaurant was busy, as is usual any night of the week and we were seated within 10 minutes or our reservation time. We did not get a table with a view, but since it was way past sunset, it was not an issue. We ordered calamari to start. It was excellent. Our dinners came with soup, I ordered the clam chowder, it was more like a potato soup since it not only did not have clams in it, but lacked any clam flavor. My husband ordered oyster bisque which was much tastier. The salmon I ordered was good not great and the risotto it was served with was tasty if not a little mushy. My husband order the halibut, which was served fried with fries. Again it was good, not great. We finished off the meal with bread pudding. There are few things i love more in this life than bread pudding and crab cakes. This bread pudding was nothing to write home about and I would skip dessert entirely. Also, I would skip dinner and go for lunch so I can enjoy the view.

OMG.....this place was fabulous. It was recommended by friends who had visited when they were on the Oregon Coast. After reading the reviews, I had my reservations about a restaurant with only 3-1/2 stars. After enjoying an absolutely fabulous meal, I do not understand the reviews that gave this place less than 5 stars. It was incredible. We started our meal with the crab cakes and an appetizer with smoked salmon and shrimp on a baguette. Possibly the best appetizers we have ever had. Our main meals were the Sauteed Scallops and the Chargrilled Salmon. OMG, again. And for dessert....Marionberry Cobbler and Tiramasu.....THE BEST AGAIN!!!. The Cobbler was made fresh today and the Tiramasu was made in house too. The Tiramasu is THE BEST, I have ever tasted. If you are on the Oregon Coast, this place is a must visit. Be sure to make reservations so you are there at sunset.......the wall of windows is perfect for viewing the sunset over the ocean. The view is only a bonus compared to the food. We will definitely be back the next time we are on the Oregon Coast.

Hostess was SUUUUPER rude. We made 8pm reservations on the recommendation of another lady who answered the phone and we were told if we wanted to come earlier, that we would could come in and sit and wait. We elected to do that and when we came in and let the hostess know, she asked if we couldn't just come back at 8pm then scoffed when I said the other gal said we could come in. We happily waited out in the car 45min and were seated at 6:45. We didn't get out of there until almost 9pm. Now, they were really busy for a monday night, and I forgive the server being slow, however at their prices, I saw the bottom of my water glass way too many times. The server was pleasant if not a bit stretched thin, but the hostesses atrocious behavior was too much. I tried to email the restaurant, but they list no email, so I facebook messaged, no response, this was a week ago. I am going to give them another shot because the food was AMAZING and I like going out to fancy dinner about once a month. We might become regular loyal customers, as long I am not treated like a bother next time we come in and drop $100 on two people for dinner. For that price, I should NEVER see the bottom of my water glass. The food is stunning and worth going back to try again. EDIT: The Dining Room Manager contacted me and invited us back on their dime. This is a good plan. :) I will be happy to report my new experience. :)

can't beat the view we were able to make reservations in advance for our party of 10. parties of 10 or more, 18% gratuity included calamari appetizer - standard seahawk bread appetizer - cheesy and seafoody panko crusted razor clam steaks (2) w/ fries bread pudding coffee Overall a pleasant experience on a beautiful day with excellent company. Waiter was knowledgeable, helpful and organized. Good water and coffee refill service. Food was ok. I'm giving it a 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Over many many years we have had dozens of dinners at Tidal Raves and because we've never been disappointed we keep going back. In addition to great food it's always been a perfect place to watch the sunset, too. And tonight we had a sunset and once again were anticipating another noteworthy meal. Instead we were sorely disappointed. If tonight had been our first time at this restaurant there is no way we would recommend the restaurant to anyone, nor would we ever return. And after our experience tonight we will not return and it saddens us to admit this because we've always looked forward to our dinners there. It began with my husband's first dish, the appetizer of steamed clams. The actual clams were smaller than my pinky fingernail, much smaller than a dime! So small that if I were the chef I might have decided to take this dish off the menu tonight (or this week) and instead put them in our clam chowder. But the even more disappointing part of this dish was the broth that the clams were in. Not only was it incredibly salty, but it tasted and looked more like a reduced beef broth. There was nothing seafood-y or clam-like in this broth. It was not related to the sea! My husband's entrée was even more disappointing as he'd ordered a mixed seafood platter and chose the 'garlic sauté' rather than 'fried'. It came in another salty broth and the fish and seafood were just swimming in the broth, nothing looked sauteed. As cooks ourselves, we both expected that the fish and oysters would have been sautéed, not swimming in a broth. After discussing our disappointment in the dinner, when our waitress asked us how our dinners were we decided to tell her and she said she'd get the manager. When he came to our table my husband sensed immediately that this man did not want any feedback; actually it was obvious he didn't welcome any feedback. Over the years on the very few and rare occasions when we have been disappointed with something we've been served in a restaurant and have decided to give our wait person feedback they have expressed appreciation along with their apology. We did not give feedback tonight expecting anything in return but we did expect an apology, plain and simple. Instead we got the 'company line' which was "this is how we do it here". We will not go back there again.

My husband and I ate here for dinner while we were spending the night in Lincoln city. First off let me say that the views are spectacular, get a table by the window if you can but i think all of the tables should have a pretty good view. Another tip - this place gets busy so make a reservation. The food - We started out with the crab cakes which were some of the best I have had... no bready filler taste and they were definitely fresh, just bite after bite of delicious crab. My husband had the smoked salmon chowder... he loved it. I had the spinach and oyster bisque (note that I hate oysters, I only ordered it cause none of the other soups sounded great to me) I LOVED THIS SOUP!!!! I could have licked the bowl. For an entree my husband had the seared scallops which were perfectly cooked but the potato cake they came with tasted like homefries. I had the salmon with crab risotto and it was delicious. We skipped dessert cause nothing sounded appealing to us. I can't wait to go back on our next trip.

Every time we head to the coast, we stop at Tidal Raves. We love it here! The staff are ALWAYS very nice, accommodating, quick with water refresh, and iced tea! One of my favorite items on the menu is the seafood louis. Lots of crab, and shrimp, plus the dressing is divine. The clam chowder is YUM! Plus they bring you fresh bread with some fancy butter. Oh! I've also had the thai barbeque shrimp which was delicious! And the calamari was quite tasty. There can be a wait for dinner, but we don't mind...or we will go for lunch instead. It is always the same hostess, super friendly. And really, you cannot beat the view. Seriously! I especially love it when it is stormy...the water lashes the windows and the sea rumbles. Love it!

Had a late lunch here with the family and thought the food was good, service was a bit slow, and the view was spectacular. We had the fish and chips (fries were good, cod was a bit tough), the pan-fried Pacific oysters (simply prepared, but good), the crab cakes (good not great--could use a bit more spice), and a black bean soup and salad (decent). This restaurant is in a very nice spot with a beautiful view of the ocean, but the food and service are just average.

I came here for lunch today after being highly recommended by a colleague. The restaurant is a small cozy place in Depoe Bay next to the ocean and the views were spectacular! The food and service was wonderful. I had the seafood linguini and my partner had the fish tacos. Both entrees were well done full of flavor. The tangy tarter sauce was a great compliment to the calamari and fish tacos. If your here, you got to try their clam chowder. It was one of the best I've ever had. It wasn't too thick nor runny, very creamy and you can taste the freshness of the clams. Oh yeah! This is the prefect place to relax with your friend, family or significant other and enjoy great food while enjoying the views of the ocean tides! I highly recommend this place as a stop if you've never been to the Oregon coast. You won't be disappointed.

The location is, obviously, amazing! Beautiful view of the ocean and rock formations around Depoe Bay. The service was wonderful -- professional, but not snooty and the food was absolutely amazing! Went for a friend's 50th birthday dinner. Called for reservations the day before and were able to be seated at 7:15. This was for a Tuesday in October. Busy, but still able to accommodate us. Completely recommend!

Took the family here for lunch yesterday. First impression was it might be a bit fancy for our gang but our children have eaten out enough to know the program. It was empty when we arrive and I was very put off by the hostess who instead of being, well, hosting, opened with something to the effect that she wasn't sure if the could accommodate us because of all the reservations coming in. Then she disappeared for several minutes before returning with the good news. Food was good. I really liked the clam chowder. I can see why some of the other reviewers did not...it is not super thick and clammy. But I thought it was perfectly balanced and delicious. My scallops were well prepared. My wife had the green curry halibut, which she described as "modern." Everyone ate, which is a good sign. And the children's meals were very reasonably priced...we were out of there for $65 w/o tip. Our server Kim was great. She was very helpful and friendly. The dessert was the view, which is spectacular.

This is my favorite place for a romantic, sunset dinner on the Oregon coast. The starter salad deserves a better title as the medley of the mixed greens, tiny shrimp, dried cranberries and toasted pumpkin seeds kissed with a lite vinaigrette starts you off onto the path to flavor country. Follow that up with their calamari and you're on cloud nine. But then they bring out the entree and with that you can't go wrong.. I'd give them five stars but they don't have just plain old crab on the menu. No cakes, no sauce....Just a steaming plate of local crab with some picks and a bib and I'd be in heaven. But that's just me. This is the place to have a dinner with your sweetheart....and don't be shy about their desserts....UPDATE. My Sweetie and I both thought that a candle on the table would be a nice touch to round out the dining experience.

one of the most beautiful veiws i have every expeinced in a oregon coast resturant. i think we got lucky and had the best table in the house when it comes to veiw. i had green curry halibut which was delicous. easilt the best single dish i have had in any coastal restaurant. another of our party had their cioppino wich was equally good and inspired me to make it at home. AWESOME!. my son had a fried seafood plate which i didn't like but to me frying it just ruins good seafood so i'm not the best at judging fried fish. the portion was very large and reasonably price plus he loved it. tidal raves is on the very top of my quality/affordable/portion eateries on the coast. GO HERE!

So, we went to Tidal Raves on the recommendation of yelpers, and because we have 3 kids under 10, we needed somewhere moderately kid-friendly. Even at 2:00 in the afternoon on a Monday, the restaurant was busy, and a little understaffed. The food was tasty, but as it frequently is with family dining, the meals were not served in a timely fashion. We received the appetizer and the kids' meals at the same time. By the time we got our salad (included with the entrée) the kids were finished eating. 20 minutes later, we received the rest of our meals. The kids by this time were very bored of coloring, watching the waves and playing with the bread. It would be really helpful if the staff had noted that we were a family of varying ages and planned service accordingly. We had to ask for water refills (something we use to judge good, attentive service) and the bread, which was indicated on the menu was included with the meal. I would definitely return with my husband sans kids, but will look other places for family dining.

The view is so amazing here that they could serve you a dried out burger and soggy fries and you would still come back and yet ........... This is one of my most pleasant memories of our Pacific Coast trip! We spent a week in Depot Bay the last week in April. Now the weather could have been better but Tidal Raves did not disappoint! My husband stumbled upon them while on his usual " who has the best clam chowder " for lunch hunt and took me back for dinner. First, the décor is clean and modern not the usual fish nets and captains wheels we had become accustom to, thankfully! Among the day's specials was a "Russian Ginger Ale" a pleasant cocktail made with their own ginger infused vodka, sprite, and a splash of Pepsi. YUM!! I had two before the night was over. We started with the Seahawk bread and trust me when I say you could make a meal of this and a salad! TASTY!!! I have tried to repeat this as an appetizer at home, but really it just isn't the same. Maybe it is the view? My husband ordered the Dungeness Crab Casserole and as was noted by another review, yes it was very hot, but wouldn't you prefer your food hot? Now I know this will sound like sacrilege, especially on a coastal trip, but I really am not a big seafood fan so I ordered the Char Grilled Choice Top Sirloin. I know that may sound boring but that is the last thing it was, wrapped in bacon tender as my heart I would have sworn this was no Top Sirloin!!! I do not eat Top Sirloin! It was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten! So good I insisted we go back two nights later and I ordered It again =) We were completely satisfied but we are desert people so we left with a slice a Key Lime Pie to share later and it was just as tasty as everything else. I don't think we left one little graham cracker crumb! Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Great View, Great Memories! We will be back!

Starting with one of the best ocean views I've ever seen in a restaurant, Tidal Raves is an almost completely wonderful dining experience. They have a great selection of fresh inventively prepared seafood dishes, and also offer a "traditional" section on their menu for those who are not feeling adventurous. We had an assortment of dishes from both menus and all were excellent. Portions (except for desserts) are large, so be prepared. I can recommend the herb-crusted snapper in caper sauce, the char-broiled wild salmon with risotto, Tiger shrimp (which they prepare in a variety of ways), and crab cakes. (These require special mention for the large portion, even though I've already mentioned the portion size. Your get three excellent, large crab cakes: an embarrassment of riches.) Recommended appetizers include the very unique Seahawk bread, which is a baguette with smoked salmon, shrimp and caramelized onions, with a couple of cheeses melted on top -- a delightful mix of flavors. We also enjoyed the Panko-fried oysters, although, personally I think that the oil they were deep fried in had passed it's prime, and that they were left in the cooker a tad too long. I put the age of the oil down to the fact that we came in towards the end of a busy holiday weekend night. Why they were served after being over-cooked remains a mystery. I still recommend these, assuming that our experience was an anomaly, from this otherwise stellar kitchen. Also on the negative side -- nothing on the walls to absorb noise, which made the dining room annoyingly loud, especially as there was a quartet at the next table with voices that P-R-O-J-E-C-T-E-D. We now know more about their lives than we ever wanted to. In a complete reversal, I found the portion size of the otherwise excellent bread-pudding in bourbon sauce to be rather small. Perhaps I should be thankful, because I'm sure I would have eaten every bite of it no matter how much they served me. Service was quick and attentive, without being intrusive. Our wait-person should have known a bit more about the wine list, but that's a minor quibble. She was friendly and even though we asked a lot of questions, and this was on a very busy night, so I give her four and a half stars for service. Reservations are essential. You may have to wait a bit even with them. Without them, you are sure to be turned away. In short, if you are looking for a fabulous seafood dining experience on the Oregon coast, you need look now further than Tidal Raves.

The best around for seafood, and easily my new favorite!! Must try's are the smoked salmon chowder (the best I've ever had, seriously!) and the steamed clams were so good I had them as my entree! Cooked with dark beer and bacon, it's like nothing you've ever tried! My hubby had the grilled salmon, which was cooked to perfection. For dessert, nothing beats their tiramisu!! They make all the desserts in house, and the list is hard to choose from!! This place was recommended by our hotel in Lincoln City. It's a short drive and was 100% worth it!!!

terrible service, waitress Brandy, need I say more about her, of course. Three of us sit down (all women), walks by table several times before taking order, very rude when asked choice of soups, she answers, first page of menu, doesn't go thru them, same answer for salads. We wished we had sat at another waitress table, she was mentoring a new waitress, heard her explain the soups, what was in them, same with salads, omg, night and day with the two waitresses. I ordered the clams in garlic, awful, rubbery, no taste of garlic. had the garlic clams at the Habor Lights Inn B&B, outstanding and service to match, don't waste your time at the Tidal Raves lousey restaurant.

My favorite place to eat on the Oregon coast. A very vegetarian friendly menu, spectacular food, and one of the most gorgeous views of any costal restaurant. Well worth the visit if you are passing through town...and yes, worth the wait, because it is often packed! Be sure to get reservations far in advance if you can. And prepare for some delicious, hearty cuisine when you arrive!

This is simply a great place to go to. One of our favorite date night spots. Service is excellent. Food is great and the view is incredible! Salmon chowder is the best I've had. The green curry is done well as is the large wild shrimp. I'd love to comment about the desserts, but I can't because we always get so full from dinner!

What a great spot in overlooked Depoe Bay! The fact that Tidal Raves is in Depoe Bay benefits it from lowered expectations--but those expectations would be unjustified. Our group of four enjoyed mostly Asian-inspired dishes. From a seafood green curry, to a noodle dish, we were all thoroughly impressed by everything that was set down at our table. And I would of course be remiss not to mention the stellar drinks. I had one of the best Bloody Marys of my life, complements of their resident mixologist and our server, Benjamin. From the views, to the food, to the drinks, we had a first rate dining experience in little Depoe Bay, and this is a must-try for a special occasion if you're passing through.

We chose this restaurant because it was recommended by several gluten free forums. It lived up to everything recommended and more! The menu very plainly showed the gluten free items and when we asked about the calamari appetizer, the server told us it usually wasn't gf, but it could be made that way! We ordered it and it was the best calamari we've eaten in a long time. The view was beautiful and isn't that the reason we come to the Oregon Coast - to eat good food and watch the ocean. My husband had the "Green Curry" which was gluten free and he said it was delicious. I had the "Chilled Udon and Scallops" which ended up being the best meal I ate in 8 days on the coast. There was a great wine and beer list as well and would be a lovely place to have an appetizer and bottle of wine with a friend.

Corn allergies beware. Majority of dishes use corn as a thickener. Rest are cross- contaminated. (I still had a reaction.) Why talented chefs would choose to use corn starch is surprising when there are so many other choices, that are also non-GMO, available. Also, $15 for seared scallops and udon and only 2 scallops? Good thing they have a great view.

We love this place. Every time we come to Lincoln City we drive the short drive to get there, very worth the drive. The fish is amazing! They have the best house salad when you get your meal and try the home made Thousand Island on the salad. So good! Only bad thing to say about it, is the fries are not good. So, if you get the fish and chips which is maui maui fish, get a different side other than the fries!

We were driving along Highway 101 looking for somewhere good to eat that also had great views. We came along Depoe Bay (which we had heard is a great place for whale watching) and were greeted with many cheesy, circa 1970's tourist shops, attractions and dives. We planned to keep driving out of town until this place caught our eye. Great views! Great service! I was impressed with their selection of local Oregon and Washington wines and beers. I enjoyed my Mahi Fish tacos and was tempted to get dessert (because there were so many yummy choices) but opted against it. I would stop here again if passing through. It seems like one of the nicest, upscale places around Depoe Bay and for the price, service, quality of food and views you really can't beat it.

Both of our dishes were very well prepared and presented with great flavor. Very good mixed drinks as well but a bit pricey, but I guess you're paying for that amazing view.

Anyone who has anything bad to say about this place is nuts! They don't know food and are definitely miserable souls. The hubby & I have eaten here several times and luckily without a reservation for dinner didn't have to wait more than 15 mins. One of our fav restaurants & Simply Amazing food! The chef in here knows what he's doing. A must have is the smoked/pickled shrimp appetizer, there's nothing in this world like it and it's so addictive! Everything we've eaten here just melts in your mouth (if it's intended to). I'm partial to the sea scallops, they're real ones & so flavorful! Scenery is so breathtaking and every seat in the house looks right out to the bay. We even got to watch sea lions playing in the bay while eating dinner. I suggest this for a romantic nite out, anniversary, birthday, any special occasion.

This was hands down the best meal Brian and I have had on our Oregon trip. Carolyn, the owner of the local fudge shop, Fuddy Duddy Fudge Shoppe, recommended Tidal Raves, in response to our inquiry about where the best seafood in town was served. Crikey, was she spot on! The portions were very generous and the food was absolutely delicious, from the starter soup to dessert! I ordered the Dungeness crab cakes, which were lightly dusted with panko crumbs and served with a Basmati pilaf. The entree portion was so generous that I could only eat one of the three crab cakes -- especially since I wanted to save room for dessert. The hearty salmon chowder and the bread pudding with Kentucky bourbon sauce were perfect meal beginnings and endings! Brian began his meal with a cup of clam chowder, which he said was great. He grew up in New Hampshire and knows clam chowder! His entree was a mixed seafood platter sauteed in garlic and served with pilaf. He ended his meal with their giant chocolate chunk cookie, which was served warm with Tillamook vanilla bean ice cream. He finished every morsel. We would definitely eat there again! By the way, if you're in Depoe Bay, stop in at the Fuddy Duddy Fudge Shoppe. The fudge there is spectacular -- rich and so creamy that it melts in your mouth. We bought the peanut butter and penuche walnut.

This was my third visit to Tidal Raves and I wasn't disappointed. We specifically plan our trip around making a stop here. The fresh seafood is delicious and uniquely prepared. Our favorite item on the menu is the smoked salmon chowder. Divine! I had the fish tacos this time and truly enjoyed them. The food is excellent, the service is great and the view is stunning. Don't forget the cheesecake. We had the raspberry hazelnut cheesecake ~ oh yes!

My wife and I went to Tidal Raves to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. It's a very popular place. We were seated right away (although there were a number of people waiting with larger parties) and our waitress was very attentive and friendly (she told me she had worked there for 15 years and loved it). We were told by friends to start with the Seahawk Bread, so we did. Yum! This starter was topped with shrimp, smoked salmon, cream cheese, Havarti and onion. So good. My wife had a shrimp salad and I had a delicious bowl of smoked salmon chowder, as a follow up. For the entrée, she had a Char Broiled Rib Eye with a shrimp skewer and I have the Alaskan Halibut Fish and Chips. Finally, for dessert, she had a Caramel Nut Truffle Cake and I had a Mocha Cheese Cake. They also have a wine menu available. Everything was simply perfect. The view of the ocean from anywhere in the dining room is awesome! We'll be back ;)

4 for service/management, 4 for food, 5 for ambiance = 4 overall. The food was really good, except that the only kind of batter they have is beer batter - even for kids' fish and chips - not OK in my book. So we got grilled fish and chips, which was surprisingly good, and a crab pasta dish that was great. Our waitress was nice but the daily special was too long - it shouldn't take 20 seconds to talk about the daily special. I blame that more on the management than our waitress because her speech was consistent with other tables, which means she was saying what she was supposed to say, it was just too much. Despite the good service overall, it took them a couple minutes to bring us a high chair (30 seconds seems more reasonable), and they took my wife's plate while she was in the bathroom (luckily she was done, but I didn't know that at the time and they took it without asking while I was distracted by the baby). The view over the bay is amazing and, if you can get a window table, it's probably worth going just to sit down and take in the view.

Call it three and a half. Yep, that's a whale swimming by out there. The views have brought us here obviously. We had a table right up front by the window with an outstanding view of the bay and the ocean. The menu focuses on seafood and everything that we had was very fresh. We opened with an order of manilla clams. Use some of that bread to mop up the sauce. Entrees included soup or salad, so that was next up. Mixed greens for Kris and a spicy Manhattan shrimp chowder for me. The soup was great and one of the best things I had. We both had the salmon for our mains. Cajun style for the lady and grilled for me. As you would expect, the salmon was fantastic. My dish came with a crab risotto and vodka sauce, which was odd and didn't work. We finished up with the bread pudding that was rich and had a nice kick of bourbon. Our service was great and the prices were very reasonable, which explains why it seemed there were so many families here. For such a beautiful setting, I guess I just expected a more romantic ambiance.

Incredible view. Call ahead for reservations and they do a great job. The crab casserole still rocks after 40 years on the menu

The first time we went to Tidal Raves, we were given a 15-minute wait time and put on the list. Forty-five minutes later, we finally asked what happened, and someone had crossed us off the list by mistake. They were apologetic, comped us dessert, and the food was quite tasty. The view is indeed lovely. With that in mind, my husband and I tried to eat there on New Year's Eve. We asked the hostess if it was possible to get a table without a reservation. We would've accepted a straightforward "No," but instead, she said she had to take care of the parties with reservations first, then she would see what she could do. She seated everyone in the waiting area, avoided all eye contact with us, and then the clincher... she answered the phone while we stood right in front of her, then proceeded to tell the caller that she would put them on the list, and it would be about 30 minutes for a table. We were stunned. She couldn't give us that same information? SO RUDE. We won't bother going back, despite frequent trips to the area. Their food is not so amazing that it's worth being treated like crap by the hostess or entirely forgotten. The only reason they get two stars is for the food quality and the view.

Tidal Raves is located in Depoe Bay, which has the littlest harbor in the world (as I've heard claimed). The restaurant however is located overlooking the bay; and most of the tables have a very nice view of it, which, depending on your luck, might result in your seeing whales or other sea critters frolicking about. First time we've been there in years, and in the interim the restaurant has been redecorated with newer furniture and colors. A big improvement! The wife and I stopped by for lunch on a Sunday without reservations, and it took about 20 minutes to get seated (I think we just followed the after-church crowd). The table we got was great and I ordered a red snapper over mashed potatoes and vegetables and it was very tasty. My wife had the oyster sandwich and liked it as well. So, in the years since here last, the food is still good and this might be the best choice in Depoe Bay.

Went here during our vacation to the Oregon Coast. My wife loves seafood--I am more of a landlubber--and Tidal Raves came highly recommended. Not much selection for landlubbers but what I had was good (Tri Tip with veggies and Shrimp Skewer). The Tiramisu for dessert was very tasty. My wife had the sauteed shrimp and chowder. She said it was phenomenal. We were seated with the ocean view and it didn't disappoint. Saw a few whales spouting too! For the food and experience, the prices were reasonable. Definitely make a reservation--they are always very busy.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here on a rainy August day (who would have thought -- rain in AUGUST?) and were immediately satisfied with our choice based on the ambience alone. For just $10.00 each we got amazing clam chowder, a fresh house salad with delicious glazed almonds, bread, a shelter from the storm, and a GORGEOUS view of the Pacific Ocean. It's over an hour drive from where we usually stay, but totally worth it! Will definitely return!

The smoked salmon chowder was very delicious! Big portions with lots of seafood in every dish. I especially enjoyed the creamy pesto pasta rave and the green curry! The view was also amazing. Some of the best seafood I ever had.

On the advise of a good friend we stopped at Tidal Raves for dinner. It was late afternoon and the parking lot was near full already. We walked in and were immediately seated...to get best window seating looking out over Depoe Bay, I would recommend a reservation. Our table was great for watching the evening sun set over the parlty cloudy skies...the ocean roar was amazing... We had two appetizers and a main course along with a glass of wine each...the food was great, wine pairing was nice and the service was not too overbearing but attentive...this meal for two with tip was under $50 which I did a double-take on as typically its $75 and up for a decent meal in this setting. Highly recommended...I would defiantely make the trip up again and bring friends...

What the hell is going on here, Yelpers? Lana and I have eaten at Tidal Raves many times and, in light of the reasonable prices (two can easily eat here with drinks and dessert for less than $60), the great view and the above-average food, Tidal Raves is a solid four-star restaurant. In addition, a number of your opinions seem to mirror my own -- at least four, perhaps even five-star reviews -- but the accompanying ratings are just three stars. When reviews don't match ratings, I have to look elsewhere to find opinions which, while they may be wrong, are at least consistent. I don't want to do that. Worse, in an attempt to achieve some overall balance, I felt compelled to give Tidal Raves five stars -- and I didn't want to do that. Check it out: here are summaries of the adjectives and opinions used in four previous reviews, all with three-star ratings: (1) delicious - pretty good - delicious - reasonably priced - love wine and coast views - very, very good - the best in years (2) best view - menu good - fish and chips great - good shellfish (3) your best bet on Hwy 101 (4) safe bet - delicious - best on the coast Three stars for delicious? Three stars for the best restaurant in three hundred miles of coastal highway? It seems Tidal Raves can't catch a break here. In addition, I see two reviews that disparage the restaurant for the advanced age of its clientele, which is relevant only to a childish prejudice and irrelevant to a restaurant's food and atmosphere; and one review that condemns the food because it lacks composure and cohesion. I don't know that means. Was the food nervous? Was it supposed to stick together in some kind of gelatinous mass? In fact, the food at Tidal Raves is generally very good -- for specific examples, see the previous reviews -- but not consistently so. There are occasional failures. The view is spectacular and, when the whales are playing in the cove, Tidal Raves probably is the best place on the coast to view them. The prices are reasonable and the sound level is average or better than average. We've never experienced a serious delay with seating despite the fact that we've never had reservations; but we've never been there for supper, only for lunch, and it may be that the restaurant is even more popular in the evening than it is during the day. Service can be slow but I can say the same thing of many restaurants that charge more and lack a view worth looking at while I wait. If this review does not support my coerced five-star rating, I trust it at least supports my four-star opinion of Tidal Raves.

The food was excellent! Both appetizers and main courses were spot on delicious. The view is magnificent. The service was fine, but not outstanding. While some reviewers complain of the price, I think it is fair given the view and quality of food. We ate here two nights in a row, and enjoyed ourselves completely.

We've been to TR several times since we are summer Newport residents and I have to say we are probably not going back again. Their menu just doesn't have any things we like, and the food is kind of OK at best. The wait staff we are just not happy with and we are big tippers. The wine list is so-so and we usually just take our own (especially reds since as in most places out here they are typically served too warm). Plus it's hard to get a reservation on short notice, and even if you do you typically have to wait a while (last time we waited over 30 minutes to be seated). And we see to always be seated in the same two-top table which is in the worst location in the place. Those who rate this place highly to me don't seem to have been out to good places that often.

This restaurant came highly recommended by friends in the area and completely lived up to our expectations. The view is magnificent, service is friendly, efficient and unobtrusive, and the food is delicious-- more sophisticated than you might expect from the casual dress code. All in all, a wonderful place we will definitely return to, but be warned that it's so popular that reservations are a must, especially in the summer season.

It's entirely possible that this two-star rating reflects poor menu choices on our behalf --- several of my friends love this place. Our waiter was efficient and somewhat conversational, but seemed a bit stiff. My husband asked what their seasonal beer was and while the waiter couldn't remember the name, he said it was a "carmel-y amber." Scooter opted to go for it. In a few minutes, the pint arrived, and as he put it down the waiter told Scooter, "I was wrong, the seasonal ale is a porter." I'm sure if Scooter hadn't wanted a porter, or didn't like the way it tasted, the waiter would have taken it back, but we both thought it strange that he chose to bring it to the table without first checking in to say he'd been wrong about the seasonal beer and would a porter be ok. I ordered the halibut burger, Scooter ordered the mixed plate...and opted for fried over sauteed. Two mistakes, I think. The halibut steak, while a bit on the dry side and definitely overpowered by the large burger bun, would have been just fine on its own. I should know better than to order a fish burger in the first place. Scooter's choice of fried over sauteed took a lot of the flavor out of the seafood --- however the portion was incredibly small, especially for almost $16. No dessert. Outta there. The views are spectacular, so might be a great place for lighter fare and beverages.

I'm happy to see that the recent reviews are a lot more accurate on Tidal Raves than those from a few months back. We were told by every local to check out this local restaurant - so we had some high hopes, and some reasonable expectations as a mild foodie. It was already passed sunset so the view couldn't play a part in my feelings towards the experience. Overall - the food lacked composure, and it was not worth the $15+ a plate for food. The service was mediocre and the 45 minute wait on a weekday was unacceptable. While I heard others rave about the food, from across the room, I can't seem to figure out what they raved about. My dish's flavors were not cohesive and I felt like I was taken back to 1992 on a bad day. If you have the opportunity, avoid this heavily touted spot. If you're willing to spend an additional 15 minutes - drive up the road to Lincoln City where the restaurants are more plentiful and the food options have a better chance of impressing you. But if you do decide to go - make sure you have a reservation or be prepared so sit around for 30 or more minutes.

Oysters boiled in half and half do not an oyster stew make. Typical overpriced tourist trap with pretense of sophistication. Once an overwhelmed hostess got her rush of reservations figured out, the service was pleasant and efficient. Oh yeah, the view is great. But it's even better from the park bench nearby.

Gets an enthusiastic 4 star. Would have been a 5 but not everything was up to scratch. The service is speedy and excellent. Cocktails outstanding, chowder just the BEST! Docked a mark for Key Lime pie being way over heavy on the foam / froth and the steak being a tad underdone. Bottom line is this place is very very good, with fresh sea food almost swimming in your plate.

I was so excited to eat at Tidal Raves again, as we've had a number of yummy meals over the years there. This time however I ordered the $18 fish and chips dish. The four small pieces of fish were glistening with oil from the deep fat fryer! Oh my. I discreetly squeezed one piece in my napkin to soak up some of the fat. I peeled the coating off most of the fish, which was then tasteless. I still had GI issues for 6 hours afterwards. The waitress was apologetic and said she would tell the chef, but that was that. Super disappointing. It would have been a bad $6 meal, let alone for $18. Usually the food is good here.

Great food, beautiful views from every seat on the north side of the bar. We didn't check out the rest. Friendly staff, very attentive. All the fisherman at Depoe Bay suggested it so we gave it a try. Will eat there again.

Tidal Raves is set on top of a cliff. It has a magificent view of the ocean. So as we pulled up to the restaurant I noticed that it was familiar. I couldn't figure it out at first. So I started thinking and then I realized that it had been the background of a movie that I had seen, 'The Burning Plains'. I will say that this places gets really busy, so it's best to make a reservation!!! The staff however was very friendly. As an appetizer my girlfriend and I ordered the calamari. The calamari was fresh and the definitely not chewy, as some of them can become. The aioli sauce that came with the calamari was tasty. Although it was good, I've definitely had better. I then ordered the herb crusted snapper. The snapper was laid on a bed of flavored mash potatoes. The snapper I thought was excellent. I really enjoyed it. Like the calamari it was fresh and didn't have that old fishy smell or taste. The fish was cooked just right, moist and tender. I could easily use a fork to eat it. Overall my experience there was good. I can't say it was the best food I ever had but it was good. Probably one of the better restaurants in the area.

Growing up in Seattle and then going to college in Malibu, I've been to quite a few 'fancy' steak and seafood places in my time. Tidal Raves ranks right up there with the best of them! The quality of the food is spectacular and the ambiance is simple, cozy and charming. Not to mention the KILLER view of the Oregon Coast! Went to Tidal Raves with some of my best girls from college over our AGW (annual girl's weekend). We stayed at a lovely beach house in Lincoln City and then drove down the coast to have lunch at Tidal Raves per the recommendation of one of the girls who also lives in Portland. What a lovely experience! I had the green curry with mixed veggies and halibut and WOWZA was it ever tasty! Probably one of the best curry dishes I've ever had! The halibut was tender and perfectly cooked and there was a nice mix of veggies (mushrooms, bell peppers, onion and some greens), and the dish was accompanied by a scoop of rice topped with peanut sauce. Yum! The food was piping hot and the presentation was beautiful. Our server was kind and very helpful in making recommendations when we had trouble deciding what to order. The most surprising thing about this spot is the pricing! Most similar restaurants that I've been to with this kind of cuisine and an ocean view typically run $18-35 dollars a plate. At Tidal Raves, their plates run about $9.50-$25 (at least at lunch, which is when we went). That is truly outstanding! You can't get a better value for your buck, or a better view of the coastline! If I ever have cause to go back up to Lincoln City I will definitely be back!

The hazelnut crusted halibut special was delicious. The Cioppino was pretty good as well... delicious bread crustinis accompanied the buttery broth. Both were so reasonably priced, at a bit below $20. I love Oregon wine, and I love Oregon coast views. It makes the food taste amazing. For desert, we had the bread pudding, which was very, very good. Very, very bourbony... mmm. I think it's the best bread pudding I've had in what seems like years. Get it. It was too bad that they were all out of the special pumpkin inspired deserts (we went the day before Thanksgiving) at 7:15pm! Seemed a bit early but, I guess for a Wednesday night, perhaps they weren't expecting such a crowd. Did I mention it has a cool name?

My husband and I went on a Saturday at 3:00 pm and just happened to get a parking space. The resturant was still busy even this long after lunch. The hostess was scatter-brained and answered the phone before helping us. Big no, no for me. Luckily we only had to wait for about ten minutes to be seated. While it took our waitress a little bit to speak to us we ordered about ten minutes after we were seated. We ordered spinach, oyster bisque, smoked salmon chowder, and mixed grill w/ oysters, shrimp and mahi mahi. If you like spinach and oysters then the bisque is for you. The salmon chowder was delicious. The main course was good. The garlic sauce the fish was in was so delicious it out shines the fish. And if you have a choice between fries or pilaf... get the pilaf. It out shined the meat as well. If I lived here I would try this place again.

Great view! I stopped in for a quick bite after hiking around --- was definitely a bit under-dressed as everyone else was in nicer "beach fancy" attire... Had a full order of the seahawk bread which was great! It could use a little more moisture but the flavors are there. We also had a smoked salmon chowder and that was great as well! This place has a great view

Food was delicious, host at the door was super friendly, view of ocean from our seat was beautiful. Our server, I couldn't tell if she had an issue paying attention and listening, or was just being a flat out bitch to our family, including towards my kids. I got the impression that she didn't feel bothered enough to give us her time and respect. We were a younger couple, with two kids, in a restaurant full of older people. She treated the tables around us just fine, different than our table. Despite our troubles, frustrations, and irritation, we remained polite the entire time. I do hope to go back at some point, but will probably just leave if we get her as a server.

The halibut fish and chips is not even on the menu because it's so expensive since halibut price skyrocketed. But U.S. Old timers know they have it on the down low. Over $20+ for two little pieces for lunch. Sure, you can go across the street to Sea Hag and get 3 good sized pieces for $20, hali-BUT IT's not the same. Sigh...so we pay the price for a taste of halibut heaven!!! Their coleslaw used to be the most awesome too, but the new recipe leaves us leaving it on the plate. Hoping they'll bring the old recipe back. Tidal Raves is still best kept secret of Oregon Coast.

I was on an extended 10 day stay in Depoe Bay which was part vacation, family visit, and business. Each day I wanted to try something new and selected Tidal Raves for lunch on one of those occasions. My first impression was the place had a very clean and classy feel but not off-putting for those in the burger & fries class. Second impression was the view, it is spectacular. Particularly if you can grab a window seat. Third was the wait. When something is popular and good, expect a wait. I can't remember exactly what I had to eat. I think we started with Seahawk Bread which was a must have appetizer. My main course was the Rock Fish Po'Boy. It was good but there was something missing in the flavor for me. My girlfriend had Grilled Chicken Caprese and she was satisfied. We didn't have anything special to drink so I can really comment. They do have a full cocktail, beer, and wine menu but they really lean on wine here. Overall I can't complain. It is one of the nicer places to eat in the area and I plan to return. Next time I'll probably stick to Seahawk Bread and soup with a frosty cold beer.

My sisters and I stopped in on our journey down the coast and what an amazingly wonderful atmosphere! The food was no less then splendid and the views were breathtakingly beautiful. The food was so so and the view was phenomenal. I had the Dungeness crab and shrimp macaroni and cheese which was primarily a cream sauce as you could barely taste the cheese or the crab as it was pretty much drowning in cream sauce. (Ironically the side salad it came with was really good!) My husband had the fish tacos which he said was good as far as the fish goes but didn't have any spice at all. Their homemade ginger beer was pretty good. That being said it wasn't at the height of tourist time, yet still the service was on the slower side. So, it was okay but nothing to write home about .

Outstanding food, friendly and efficient service, as well as an amazing view. The seating arrangement has a unique view from every table, and a small bar is tucked intimately in the corner. The food was delicious, and the presentation immaculate. The wine and cocktail list was an excellent balance to the menu. The atmosphere inside was casually elegant, and relaxing. Tidal Raves made a perfect end to our visit to Depoe Bay.

Just had lunch here after reading the posts on Yelp. My husband had the special of the day which was fin fish with a coconut breading. It was delicious. He added a bowl of clam chowder. The best ever. I had the rave pasta with marinara sauce. Absolutely delicious. It came with a side salad with shrimp and a lemon balsamic dressing. Fabulous. Took over half my pasta dish with me. My husband had a beer and I had a local wine. Best meal we had on the Oregon coast.

My husband and were staying down the street and chose this place because it had great yelp reviews. We did not have a reservation we just walked in and were able to be seated right away ( however I did notice a reservation list that looked full so I recommend making one just to be safe) there are beautiful views of the ocean at every seat. We ordered the Seahawk bread appetizer which was very yummy. We also ordered a Moscow mule and a grapefruit sangria which were very tasty. For dinner I had cioppino (seafood stew) I ordered the smAller bowl for $13.50 they have a bigger bowl for $22 that comes with salad. My husband ordered the fish and chips and we were both very satisfied with our food. I loved the clean ambiance of the restaurant with great views! Definitely a must go restaurant if you are in depoe Bay Area!

The only place in Depoe Bay you need to find yourself if not directly on the water. Take in the sweeping Oregon coast from this restaurant perched high above the waves. You might think the ideal seat is right by the window overlooking the Pacific, but au contraire! A few months back they transformed the back part of the restaurant (where no one wanted to sit because it wasn't window-adjacent) into a high top bar with about 6-8 stools. That, dear PNWers, is where you want to be...especially if Bryan is behind the bar. This chap single-handily crafted a delightful afternoon for our rowdy group of four. He not only entertained us with his wits and friendly disposition, but he also sampled the hell out of the bar offerings without so much as a flinch. The bar program is thoughtfully crafted and quite impressive for a restaurant that looks like your average beach town eatery. The few nibbles we had were also enjoyable, and, as one can imagine, very seafood centric. Come for the booze, stay for the booze...nibble some so you can indulge in more...booze!

I ordered the fish and chips. It came out tepid. I had to wait 10 minutes before our server, Jen G, finally made an appearance and I had to flag her down. She had not made the effort to come back to check. I told her my issue (her face made if seem like I had three heads - we had asked her about meat in the chowder too and she had the same 'judgy' attitude) and she took my food away. It came back (without coleslaw) by another server. It was hot. But again, no check back by Jen. Getting our checks at the end took around 20 minutes (I timed it) I have no idea if she was having a bad day. There was no apology or acknowledgment for the issues we had. The food was ok but pricey. I've had better fish (as have my friends)

We had a great experience here! We knew it was going to be good when we called in the morning to make a reservation and the soonest they could get us in was 8:30pm on a Sunday. We arrived early and had drinks in the bar - very professional bartender who made our drinks perfectly, one by one. Once seated in the dining room, we had steamed clams and Seahawk bread as appetizers... Awesome!! The crab cakes as an entree were huge (and 3 of them to boot), and were delicious! Seared ahi entree was also delicious, as was the steak. Outstanding service topped everything off. You will NOT be disappointed!!

Ah... where to start without making this a bitchfest full of complaints... I'll be nice, the food and view were great, possibly amazing! The service... to be polite, was just shitty. We waited in the entry for I'd say 3-5 minutes, with both waitress and the manager passing by and we weren't acknowledge once. It's a lunch hour on a Thursday, there were about 5-7 tables full of people, but nothing too crazy and they didnt appear to be understaffed. Finally, we're seated by the window (again, the view is amazing), you're right on the ocean with a great view of some amazing rocks that have been weathered into amazing shapes from years of water crashing into them. Our waitress wasnt friendly. She wasnt wearing a name badge, otherwise I'd gladly put her name in here. Perhaps she was putout that we were a younger couple, whereas every other patron was probably upper 30's to 50's (I'm 32 years old). She may have assumed she didnt have to work hard or impress. Perhaps she was having a bad day. I hope the small tip she got was interpretted due to her lack of service and not assumed we were just cheap. I gladly tip over 20% for a job well done. She didnt let us know the special, for after we ordered my wife and I saw and would have probably ordered that instead of what we got. The kids meal looked great! It was healthy food and a good sized portion and great value. My daughter had got the chicken and rice stir fry. My wife got a fish and fruit salad that looked amazing. She said it was great! The fruit was fresh and it was a large meal. Afterall, it was $19.00. I ordered the burger. Not typical of me, but I wasnt too hungry. The burger itself was good. You could tell the meat and patty wasnt frozen. The portion size of my side of french fries were small. Literally about a dozen fries. I was a tourist, on a road trip, saw this place and stopped in. Never heard of it and had little expectations. I could tell this place is probably and easily a 4 star joint. But my experience was a 2 star experience, at best! Even when we were leaving, the manager had her face down in a log book of some sort and didnt look up and thank us for coming in while we were walking out... Summation: Terrible intro, great view, a could be better server, great food, and a poor farewell.

Brilliant. Not my original choice but glad I changed my mind. Ryan, bartender was phenomenal, kind & intelligent. Pan fried oysters...aaahhh. Oyster bisque was very flavorful and perfectly spiced. Sazerac Rye 18yr was a great compliment.

Excellent view, attentive and professional service, delicious food, generous portions and reasonable prices. We had crab cakes, salmon chowder and rockfish. The rockfish had a lemon- caper sauce; I think we would have preferred it just grilled and simply seasoned as the sauce overpowered the mild fish, but that is just a personal preference. Man at table next to us ordered steak and shrimp and it looked fantastic!

1st time here, heard it was as good or better than Kilos. So far..NO, (-) Never heard of a "splitting fee", we wanted to share the fish & chips, (4 pic's, $18), they charged us $3 'splitting fee? What's with that!!!!!, (-) Again never heard of such a fee..... Clam chowder was really watery, but tasted ok, Cold slaw very vinegary, Baked fish & chips tasty, , Bread was good as was the salad, Service was average, The ambience was not great, did have nice ocean view though, Drinks were average, I did give them 3 stars for effert. Probably won't be back, and if we do, we won't be bringing any friends, To bad ... They could be so much better ~~~~~

The view itself is worth this food stop! No matter where in the restaurant they seat you, you can see the bay and the ocean. The menu offers everything from fancy to simple fare. I had the salmon chowder and it was delicious. My entree was the Cajun rockfish and wow was it flavorful! Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal but we all had trouble deciding what to have because so many things on the menu sound amazing. The price was very reasonable, considering their location and menu style. I would expect to pay 20+ a plate at a place like this but it was easily less than 15 a person!

Great food. Good service. We had fish tacos, smoked salmon chowder. Make sure to make reservations as this place is busy year round. We enjoyed our outing and look forward to coming back.

Stopped in for lunch during a coastal road trip. Packed with friendly locals and travelers like us this is a beautiful spot with friendly service and delicious food. The view is to die for. We enjoyed Manila clams, chowder, petite steak with chard romain, coffee and great wine! You must make this a stop. It will be a regular one for us for sure!

The food is good but what makes this place so special is the view. It has large windows around the entire restaurant with a beautiful view of the Oregon coast water.

Beautiful space and delicious food! Their Mac n cheese was more crab then noodle... PERFECTION! They had an awesome cucumber lavender gimlet and crab cakes that were bomb too! A must go on the Oregon coast!

I live in Connecticut, but visit Oregon at least twice a year. Tidal Raves is always on my list, as the food is delicious, staff wonderful, and the views of the Pacific Ocean jaw-dropping. The food is consistently excellent. The clam chowder is to die for, (sorry Moe's,) and the Thai shrimp dish, yummy! The desserts are scrumptious. The hazelnut coffee and shortbread cookies are a great finish, as well as the bread pudding. Love Tidal Raves, my #1 restaurant in the area. Can't wait to get back!

Waitress was beyond rude, not one smile, like we were bothering her. Food was good, not excellent. Ambiance and view were ten star! Sorry, everyone we spoke to, including locals, suggested we go here while on vacation..not again!

My wife and I came here for lunch. We had the Seahawk bread...yum...I had the chowder which was good but I've had better...not many clams in it....my wife had pan fried shrimp with potato cake and it was delicious! The view alone is worth coming. We will be back!

Had dinner here last week and the reviews were right on the money. Exceptional views of Depoe Bay, fantastic seafood, nice wines/cocktails and great service. There was about a 45 minute wait as we had no reservation on a Wednesday night so we got a bottle of wine while we waited. When we were seated, my husband wasn't starving so he had the 5 wild saluted shrimp with veggies. I also had shrimp but got the classic entree of wild shrimp with veggies on a polenta cake. Both were fantastic! Shrimp were a nice size and perfectly cooked. Veggies were also very flavorful and not overcooked. The polenta cake was a great match for my shrimp and veggies. We were staying at Channel House and were able to walk over from the hotel. My second visit to Tidal Raves and next time I'm in Depoe Bay, I'll be back!

The view from our table next to the window was amazing! It's a must-do experience when in Depoe Bay. My cocktail was fabulous (Cherry Bomb) and I like a sweet/tart drink. The dinner menu didn't disappoint. I chose the Mixed Platter (sauteed instead of beer battered) since it seems like a good thing to order at the coast, but there were many tempting options. The reason I'm withholding the 5th star is that our server's unfriendly demeanor put a damper on the dinner. We even tried to cheer her up with a compliment, which may have been a small success if it benefitted customers who followed us.

We arrived here around 8 pm on a Sunday night and they accommodated us even though business was slow and they could have closed early. We were quite impressed with the view of the rocks and ocean. The chowder was adequate but not outstanding. However, the fresh fish was fantastic. I had the steelhead special. It was beyond belief. No fishy taste at all, char grilled to perfection and served with lobster wine sauce. Wife had wild shrimp sauteed with garlic. We both left feeling very satisfied. Prices were reasonable, considering the quality. Highly recommended.

Loved. This. Place. We had a late evening dinner after a full day fishing on the ocean (caught our first salmon of the year, yay!). Just in time for sunset. Fantastic views from the cliff-side position, I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Surprisingly traditional menu for a "destination restaurant"; all your old favorites are on it. GF had scallops & I had ribeye with a wild prawn skewer at the waiter's suggestion. Mains come with a soup or salad (I chose oysters and spinach bisque, 5 stars, silky and delicious, remarkable; GF had a nice salad with tiny marinated bay shrimp). Both mains superbly executed, scallops almost sushi rare, steak generous, nicely seared, and savory (salt rub?). Service was friendly and impeccable, a not-so-easy balance to achieve. Very "California cool" feel to the decor and ambience, especially the art and terraces outside. Surprisingly reasonable prices too for both food and wine. An instant winner, we'll be back. (nb - very busy, even at 8:30 it was packed).

We stopped here for some clam chowder for take out. The service was fast and friendly, the restaurant had an awesome view and the menu looked fantastic! The clam chowder was really good and they gave me two pieces of bread and butter also.

Busy day but they got us right in. The breathtaking view is at least as good if you are on the 2nd level. Grilled wild salmon and the crab cakes were both outstanding. Loved everything! Waitstaff very competent. Not overly friendly but attentive. Overall, the perfect combination of view and excellent food. Highly recommended.

Seriously this was one of the BEST RESTAURANTs on our vacation through OR. The waitress was a bit on the bitchy side at first. She was really busy so we cut her a break and then she ended up being a good waitress. The food... amazing! We started with the Manhattan Shrimp Soup, then Oven Broiled Alaskan Halibut* with crab risotto and vodka sauce for dinner. We both LOVED this dish. Big pieces of Crab in the risotto, and the Halibut was cooked to perfection. On top of the great food is the view! Wow, whoever built this place out was smart enough to highlight there awesome spot on the water. Stop here, well worth it.

The shrimp stuffed salmon with basil cream sauce special with garlic mashed potatoes was amazing! So many rich flavors, I ate every bit and wiped up all the last smudges of sauce with bread! The peach sorbet with hazelnut shortbread cookies and raspberry sauce was so light and refreshing, I would go back just for the dessert!

Incredible food and view. I got the red curry BBQ shrimp and my husband got the sirloin. We loved both! The view is incredible as well. Make reservations as this place seems always busy. We saw our server only once after our food was delivered to our table - the ONLY fault I could find!!

We had a great dinner tonight at the Tidal Rave; one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I had a half dozen Pacific oysters and asked for half pan fried and half Panko fried. The request was accommodated and they were both delicious, but I think the Panko is my favorite- provided a bit of crunchy contrast to the oysters. My wife had the Seahawk bread and she loved it. It's made on a fresh sourdough and had plenty of seafood. We both had soup with our entrees- I had the clam chowder which was the best I've had recently. She enjoyed her Manhattan shrimp soup also. The rockfish entree I had was really good and wifey loved her Alfredo pasta with seafood. Plenty of chunks of fresh fish, crab, and clams. The service was friendly and very prompt. We timed our dinner perfectly to enjoy the sunset, as well. We will be back.

We have always enjoyed this restaurant. It has often been too busy to get in as we drove by but today we were lucky. I started with a manhattan that was excellent. I also had a glass of Zerba wine with my food. My wife had smoked salmon chowder first and I had spinach oyster bisque. Boh were excellent. My wife loved her fish tacos. I liked the Pasta Raves which was full of seafood. We were too full for dessert. The hostess was friendly and helpful. Our waitress was attentive though she did one thing I find bothersome: asking about dessert before the main course has been finished. The view is always wonderful.

This little spot is so amazing! I came here with my family for the first time on July 4th, and their seafood trumps any July 4 BBQ I've ever had. Our waiter was very accommodating, which made the overall experience that much better and nothing beat the view of the ocean as the sun was setting. So happy to have found this little gem!

This place is always full of people and wait list for at least half an hour. some smart people have reservation get to eat first. My salmon fish is bit dry and small. Rock fish is tender and tasty. seafood sampler has 4 good size oyster 3 shrimps, fish pieces but is bit too oily. Seafood pasta is big size. Spanish oyster soup is just soup no oyster but tiny bit of spanish in it. I wish I order clam chowder soup because it got lots of potatoes and clam in it. Our food took about one hour to get to us. We endured for the 180 degree breath taken view.

Good food, good service! I had the sautéed jumbo shrimp with rice pilaf - yum! My husband had the cioppino and thought it was good too. A great birthday dinner, with a view that couldn't be beat! Wish I could say the same for the Channel House -- very poor experience there!

We always dine here when we visit Depo Bay. It is the best in fine dining, ambiance, service, and is right on the cove. I had the best birthday dinner here in April 2014 and can't wait to get back there. Reservations are recommended as this is a very popular place. Some other nice restaurants have closed, so this is the one to enjoy a special occasion, romantic dinner or dinner with friends. Great bar, perfect food, and attentive service. Hope to see you again soon!

This is a great place to eat. We got there just before dusk ... What a view! We're eastsiders and the view of the ocean is magnificent. We started with the Seahawk Bread. What a delicious treat. House dressing on the salad was very good. My spouse had a Crab Louis I had one of my favorites, razor clams. Everything was perfectly prepared. I'm definitely going to be a return diner. What a great place to eat. The service was just the right mix of attention, efficiency and privacy.

Good place for tourists. Once is enough. The view is great but it is hit or miss for dining. Went for lunch today and to make reservations for a party of 10 later in the week. For years this get together was at Tidal Raves, alas they decided to put in a bar so no room. Lovely hostess said she would seat us in her favorite spot. Ahh, the bar, it has a sort of lunch counter seating area that has a fabulous view. All good stops here. I think the bar tender stopped by and asked if we'd like something to drink. He suggested a non alcoholic ginger beer. Do not get this drink. One sip was enough. My fault because how good could fake beer taste? It was baaaad! Now if you like to juice ginger and drink it straight you might love the ginger brew. I found it gross. Then we sat there for way too long waiting for someone to show up and take our food order. No one came. We left and told the hostess on the way out that the service left much to be desired. She didn't care which sums up Tidal Raves. They don't care. It's a tourist trap with a great view and on occassion good food but no consistency.

Walked in on a Thursday evening (just me). My opening conversation with the hostess went like this: Hostess: Would you like to sit at the counter? Me: Hmmm, no, not tonight. Hostess: All our tables are booked. Me: So, if I want to eat here tonight I have to eat at the counter. Hostess: Yes. Me: I guess I'm sitting at the counter. Don't give me a choice when there is no choice. Try selling the positive... Something like, "I'm sorry sir, but all our tables are reserved. I can seat you immediately at our counter. It has an amazing view of the ocean (it really did)." This way I'm not feeling like a single diner being shuttled off to Eating Alone Purgatory. I'm someone special sitting at a table with a great view! (Which it was) Food was ok. Three mid-sized scallops sitting on a bed of super-salty mashed potatoes. Veggies that came with it were good. The smoked salmon chowder that came before the entree had one chunk of salmon in it. (this entree was $26) The chocolate truffle dessert was amazing, though!

Breathtaking views and fine dining at affordable prices! The rockfish po boy was delicious with a crusted layer rather than a heavily battered, oily texture. We also enjoyed the spinach bisque and loved the apple caramel dessert. I highly suggest to anyone traveling along the Oregon coast!

Unfortunately I could only give this place a three star review as the most important person in our party of the night had the worst meal. It was my husband's birthday and this is how it broke down: First we made reservations because by the reviews it looks as if it is very popular and on a Saturday night we were sure that it would crowded and a reservation would be in order. Then there were only 4:15 or a 8:45 so we opted for the earlier since we are traveling and have been tired and earlier sounded better. We arrived on time. The hostess was not the friendliest but the phone was ringing off the hook. She seated us at a table on the upper level and as my picture depicts it was a beautiful view. Our server was very prompt, nice and attentive. My husband ordered the halibut because of it being one of his favorite dishes but also I told him that it got great reviews, I ordered the fish tacos, our companions ordered the green curry and the special of the night baby sea scallops. Unfortunately as I said my husband's dish was not good. His halibut tasted frozen. I tasted myself and it did taste frozen. No flavor at all. He did like the risotto. I had clam chowder with my fish tacos and it was delicious and the tacos were good. Our companions said that their dinners were very good. We all had wine to drink and at the end of the meal they served my husband a giant chocolate chip cookie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a candle. No singing at his request!! I guess it was maybe halibut wasn't in season? IDK I was just shocked that it didn't deliver as the reviews raved.

As we drove by the place the parking lot was full, but I continued on north, only after about a mile or so, decided to turn around since it would be awhile before coming into another developed area with restaurants. Full parking lots are always a good sign if you have nothing else to go by... Seated after having a table cleaned our waiter came by and introduced himself and mentioned the days specials. I had the seafood platter which had a nice piece of fish, couple of oysters and a few prawns along with some fries. A small and tasty salad topped with some small bay shrimp was also included. My wife had the special which was a cup of good clam chowder which was not overly floury or thick but a nice consistency, she also had the bread which was topped with cheese, smoked salmon and some bay shrimp. I ordered a local beer and we were served with a bread and a glass of wine for the wife. Our food arrived and it was done well, tasty, not overly seasoned or salted, and it was at that time that the server asked if I wanted another beer, which I did order. After about 15 minutes and we had finished our food the beer arrived, which he left hastily not allowing me to tell him that I no longer wanted the beer since I had no food to eat with it anymore. He obviously forgot about it until he was ready to fetch the check for us. Can I fault him for that, yes I can, since I really didn't need another 6 dollar beer just before leaving. That was the only sad experience otherwise making it a perfect lunch experience, the view was stellar, the food good and the service up to that point decent. It did cost him a few bucks for his error, not that he would probably have notices since the service has to be really awful for me to ding a server less than 15 % anyway, but he could have had 20.... Sad to see that so many servers do not correlate great service with great tips. In the short time I waited tables decades ago, I found out that I could make 25% better tips than my compadres by doing just that.....

This place was recommended to us by the activity director at the hotel we stayed in. The ambiance was nice and this restaurant has a killer view of the ocean. The food was good over all as was the service. It's a little pricey but one truly pays for the view. We were seated directly by the window and had our fill of the ocean view. Fantastic! The service too was ok so I am really surprise by some reviews about the service. The hostess that greeted was super nice and pretty too!! :) I believe that if you find yourself in town, this restaurant is worth the visit.

Had a wonderful dinner here with the girls. Everybody was very pleased with their food however the fettuccine had very little shrimp, crab, or clams. Five clams to be exact more fish than anything else. The flavor was fabulous but very disappointed with the lack of seafood variety in it. Drinks were wonderful and or waitress was outstanding really appreciated her. No rush when you have dinner here it's and a casual pace. I highly recommend it however to mention you would like to have plenty of the seafood in your seafood fettuccine.

This has always been one of our favorites. We moved away from OR for 10 years. We are thrilled to find this place keeps getting better. We have never had a bad meal here. The view is incredible. It's great fun watching the whales cruise by and the sea lions frolic just outside.

My husband and I have been here three previous times before our last visit. We LOVED the place and told everyone about the exceptional dining experience, the delicious food, the excellent staff and the incredible view. This time, however, we were underwhelmed and will not be back. Once we were seated, we waited another 10 minutes before anyone even brought us a water. We further waited to get our orders taken and when I asked about the gluten free options, the waiter was totally clueless. He rattled off a ton of salads, said I could have gluten free pasta with marinara and thought that even the mashed potatoes had gluten in them. When I called to reserve our seat, I asked about the gluten free options and was assured that there were many, but the reality is that there isn't. The halibut my husband ordered was seasoned well, but was very overcooked. The sirloin I ordered was under seasoned and had a GIANT piece of fat in it. The food wasn't disgusting, but it reminded us of The Keg. For close to $100, it wasn't worth it. I don't know what happened in the last year since our visit to this place, but something changed and not for the better.

I've been going to this restaurant for close to 20 years. every time I've been here the food is always been outstanding and very reasonably priced. you would be hard pressed to find another seafood restaurant of this quality. well worth the trip if you're coming from out of town . the view is to die for absolutely magnificent.

Tidal waves is receiving a 5 star review from our family because the atmosphere, food, and service were all excellent. Raphael was our server and we received the best service of our entire vacation. He had great conversation, was knowledgeable of the menu and beer, and was a good server. I ordered the crab and shrimp mac n cheese which was amazing. The kids portions were huge. And my husband loved the beer selection. My eldest daughter and I loved the art work. We were even lucky enough to have a few whales grace us for an afternoon show. And the prices were great. We will return to tidal waves on our next visit to depoe bay, or. Thank you.

Great place to enjoy the ocean view and a fresh seafood dinner. Their menu includes a "lite fare" which is easy on the pocketbook but plenty of food. Try the shrimp and crab mac and cheese delicious!! Upbeat staff and a good variety on the menu. A must try on the central coast.

I've driven past Tidal Raves for years and never stopped, I just assumed it would be a pretentious bit of seafood snobbery. Today I stopped for lunch and had a really great meal. I arrived at 11:30am, which seemed really early for lunch, but the parking lot was already filling up and I didn't want to lose the chance for a table. By 12:30 every table was occupied. My meal was wonderful. Absolutely meritorious crab cakes and tender, perfectly cooked razor clams- what a treat! All of the orders rolling out of the kitchen looked well prepared and were attractively plated. The interior has been recently updated (simple, appropriate for casual dining and special occasion) and the view from every table is phenomenal.

Yep.. went there an hour before close (8pm). The guy bussing the tables came up and said they're closed... I was a little confused because yelp said closing time was 9pm, and there were quite a few people still dining... he said "yeah, we just play it by ear.... " Well... 1 star for service....

3.5 starts would be just about perfect if that was an option. The worst thing about this restaurant is how difficult it is to get a window table. Definitely make a reservation and ask for a window table. They won't guarantee it, but they'll try if you ask. This is a mid-scale restaurant with higher class service and menu selection. I used to love their halibut sandwich, but was disappointed to find out they no longer carry halibut. Instead, I had a yummy top sirloin steak with caramelized onions, blue-cheese mashed potatoes and zucchini. The menu is small so it's not great for picky eaters. The wine selection is decent, but not superb. I had a pinot noir that was so-so but drinkable. The service is consistent and professional. Our server wasn't overly friendly, but she got the job done. They have homemade soups that are really good and I've heard people order them to go in quarts. The price is high. And if you are just looking for good seafood, there are other choices. The view is nice of the water crashing on the rocks and the ambiance is relaxing. I left feeling satisfied.

Excellent drinks with infused liquor all done in-house! The food is fresh and so delicious. There steamed clams and crab cake appetizer are worth a trip back!! (We've come in twice during our 1 week trip to the coast.) Smoked Salmon chowder was a hit at the table as was their perfectly cooked shrimp. Save room for dessert-their key lime pie is perfect. The service was attentive at lunch and dinner and we didn't feel rushed but we're able to enjoy the amazing view for as long as we liked.

Food was bland and uninteresting despite the sound of the items in the menu such as coconut crusted shrimp with jasmine rice and Asian slaw. I thought for sure this would be a delicious meal. Unfortunately the shrimp was over cooked and bland. My husband's pesto pasta seafood was unexciting as well. If you want average food then this is your place. The view of the Ocean was nice, tall windows so the experience is somewhat worth it.

We sat at the new bar area facing the ocean for our dinner. The view out to the ocean was lovely. I wanted the razor clams as an appetizer which the kitchen accomodated. I received two large clam "steaks" which were soooo tender and sweet! Wonderful! I had the Manhattan style shrimp chowder with my meal. I thought it was too watery with too little seafood - needs work. My meal was the halibut with crab risotto - fabulous. Halibut was prepared perfectly as was the risotto. My husband had the full portion cioppino and smoked salmon chowder, both very good. Nice ambiance with the ocean view although it was ruined at the end of our meal by a very boisterous group of ladies at the bar behind us who evidently had no regard for anyone else at the restaurant. We've ate here multiple times and will again our next trip on the coast.

My wife and I came here on a Saturday. the seafood is frozen. which is sad because they are right on the ocean, why is it not fresh from the boats? the veggies are just as bad. I ask for oysters that were fresh and not fried, they told me sorry the restaurant only fry's them. It says a lot about a place weather or not they serve fresh food. Oh yeah me and my wife both got sick, I think it would have been worse, luckily we both did not finish our food. I was so disappointed in this place, because the reviews were so great. We wont be back.

What a difference a few years make. What was once a favorite is now so so at best. Our server can only be described as a "server". Personality of a wet mop. Did her best to rush us through our meal, which I was choking down slowly. Fried razor clams that chewed like rubber tires wrapped in soggy corn meal. Love the view but will stop and look at the view without going back into this dive. Tipton W.

We are traveling from New Mexico, but both of us have relatives in Oregon and know our seafood. And the fish was very good here. Not a wide selection at all: salmon, Alaskan halibut, maybe a local snapper and both tiny bay shrimp as well as probably non-local bigger shrimp but really fresh and tasty. Bryan our server was very helpful and personable. He recommended the local pan-fried oysters which were fantastic, a bite of the sea. Good chowder (my smoked salmon didn't have any but had that flavor -- stick to the clam). My wife 's cioppino was very tasty, nice selection of fish, excellent with the sourdough bread apparently considering the amount she ate which she usually doesn't. My green curry was simply fantastic, highly recommended. Nice local wines, a Oregon Pinot for me and a local Tempranillo for the wife. They had in house desserts that looked great but we were stuffed. Four glasses of wine and a nice tip for Bryan and still under $100.

Came for lunch, four of us in all. The food was tasty, but the portions were small and the cost was really pricey. The view was amazing, and the decor was simple elegance. The menu was pretty limited and the service was sub-par to say the least. It took forever to get served food, however it was only half the table. The other half didn't show up for at least another ten minutes. The glass of wine my wife ordered when her meal finally arrived came as we were finishing up our meal. Our waitress didn't even show near our table for most of the meal. For what we have heard of this place I was clearly expecting more of a 4 star experience. I was disappointed and sad to have wasted such a nice afternoon on such a dismal food experience.

The only good thing about this restaurant were the views. Service was mediocre at best & the quality of food wasn't what we expected for the price we paid. Found the food to be bland. I also found a dead fly in my salad and nothing was done about it, not even from the manager, as I assume the waiter didn't even bother to tell them.

My husband and I always make a point of coming here when we can get away for a winter vacation to the coast (I don't ski). We have been here three times now and the first two were fabulous from food to service to wine to location. This last time, however, left me disappointed only slightly. To explain why I only gave four stars, I will walk you through our meal: 1. Wine: We got the special wine for that night, a Pinot Gris from the McMinnville AVA. It was only slightly chilled which made the last glass very hard to drink. A small-ish oversight but one I can live with. 2. Calamari: Great aioli. Breading is seasoned perfectly. However, breading falls off the seafood a little too easily. Again, a small-ish problem. 3. Soup and Salad: Delicious. Smoked Salmon Chowder was perfect and the salad was a good size for pre-dinner. 4. Entree: My Salmon over risotto with vodka sauce was overcooked. I know it is supposed to be charred, but the fillet was so thin that I am assuming the person cooking it just let it get away from him/her for maybe 45 seconds. The sauce was missing something, not sure what, but my risotto and veggies were left wanting. A medium-level mistake that was hard to overlook. I would have sent it back but at this point our waiter made very little effort to check in on us. (Please note, to the critical review readers like me, I did ask when I ordered it that my salmon be cooked medium-rare.) Husband's fish, sorry I can't remember what he had, he ate it so quickly, was good. 5. Pistachio Chocolate Cheesecake: A very nicely done cheesecake. I am not sure if it needed the Pistachio, but still tasty! Overall: This last experience was ho-hum. I will be going back and I will just be sure to make it clear on how I want my fish cooked and order red wine. This is a very nice place to have a great meal with family or a loved one at the Oregon Coast. Notes: I would HIGHLY recommend making a reservation. Seriously. Not joking, make a reservation.

My husband and I USED to love this place. That all changed last night however when both of us ended up violently vomiting up our dinner of herb crusted rock fish about two hours after we ate here. Both of us ordered the same thing and both of us barfed our guts out. Coincidence? I don't think so. So a big thanks to Tidal Raves for making us fight over who got the toilet and who got the trash can to puke in. What a romantic evening! We also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich for our son, he wouldn't eat it and said it tasted disgusting. We tried it and it tasted like a chemical flavored Brillo pad sandwich. When we asked the waitress about it, she gave us attitude about asking for something else. Then later came back and told us it was double fermented bread. Um........wtf. Which brings me to the waitress. She's terrible. A bitter old ox like woman who clearly hates her job along with all her customers. She chucked the oyster crackers on the table when she brought the soups and just seemed generally bothered about working. It was unbelievably rude! Then she almost elbowed my husband in the face twice and was leaning all over him while she was serving people. Terrible service!!!!!!! We're never going back again after last night. The county will be getting a phone call to report the food poisoning. Buh bye Tidal Raves!!

If the Dungeness Crab Casserole had been better, I would have rated this lovely restaurant 5 stars. Casserole was lacking in much crab with weak sauce and over cooked pasta. HOWEVER, the Cioppino was extraordinarily delicious!! The tomato basil broth was perfect, buttery, and tasty. Lots of delicious seafood made for a filling and satisfying meal. Yum! The staff were efficient and attentive but not intrusive -- just what you want to see in a good restaurant. Our waitress was smart and observant. Beautiful, serene views and a little whale action close to shore made this a truly enjoyable evening. We had reservations for a window table and were seated quickly. Additionally, we never felt rushed -- another testament to the staff. BTW, try one of their delicious cocktails.

Beautiful place right on the water. Went for lunch and was seated right away. Go early or they get busy. The view makes for a lovely dining experience. The service is good. The food is okay. The clam chowder was okay which serval reviews said it was amazing, but it Was a bit bland. The halibut fish chips were lightly battered and tasty. Great tarter sauce. I think your paying more for the view then the amazing food.

Yes the view is outstanding but Tidal Rave would flourish in any location with their menu. Try the razor clams.

My parents and I have eaten at Tidal Raves and have always had good food and service. Today I had a bowl of Cioppino which is a tomato based seafood stew containing clams in the shell, salmon, prawns and some other seafood as well as onions, green pepper, and mushroom. It is very good. Additionally I got the shrimp side salad. The salad is very good too--dark leafy greens, many shrimp, sliced almonds, cucumber, tomato, dressing. My mom got the Pasta Rave (linguini with several seafoods and pesto sauce). Instead of the shrimp salad she got the cup of smoked Salmon Chowder. We both liked our meals a lot. My dad got Dungeness Crab & Shrimp Mac & Cheese which came with the shrimp salad on the plate. He said the that it was good. The service was good.

Our party of five recently ate here. It was a weekend night and restaurant lines in Lincoln City and environs were long, and we had no reservation. A local staff person in one of the restaurants suggested Tidal Raves, so we gave it a shot. Put our names in and were told it would be 45 minutes to an hour, so we toured the town a bit, then came back to sit in the lobby area and try a beverage. Their blackboard listed some good-sounding beers, but we didn't notice the small print--the beer was in cans, so that was disappointing for our small-craft beer fans. I tried one of their special drinks--marionberry sangria. To be honest, it tasted a bit vinegary; I could also taste cucumber and rosemary, I thought. I didn't like it. So the beverages were the only disappointments. That aside, the way the seating is arranged, there is a view of the ocean for every table even if you don't get a seat right next to the window. The service was very good and all of us LOVED our dinners. I had udon noodles topped with grilled mahi mahi. It was considered a salad with the noodles served cold, but the fish served warm. It was not the type of dish I would ordinarily order, but it was really good. Others at the table had the polenta dish and raved about it. One had the green curry and it was spicy and delish too. We took the desserts to go as we were so full. Bread pudding and a dense chocolate torte went home with DH & me and they were both great. Would definitely recommend and return.

I had eaten here once before--and thought the food superb-- this time, uh not so much. The dinner salad was sub par... I had a shrimp salad and it was hardly exceptional. The clam chowder-- bitter and watery. The view, thats the redeeming quality of the establishment. Maybe they were having an off night--but throwing lettuce on a plate and plopping a pile of bay shrimp sure didn't show much creativity. I was there with my elderly parents, who were celebrating their 53rd anniversary, and we'd had such an amazing experience there the year before, this was a true let down.

Seven of my college buddies ate here during a recent get together. It is the busy season so I would recommend reservations. Great Boiler Bay View - especially if the Whales are in town. There were two swimming at the mouth of the bay during our whole dinner around 5:00.Most of us had the Baked Salmon Daily Special which was very good. See the picture I added.

We made a reservations few days prior to when we were going to be dining and were seated right away. Waitress was extremely friendly and very attentive. Food was very good, although I wish my steak had been just a bit bigger. My husband got the salmon and said it was very tasty. All in all it was a very good experience and a good way to celebrate an anniversary.

Tidal Raves is a solid choice for Oregon Coast dining. I have been coming here for many years. Last night we came for my husbands 30th birthday with 3 other friends. We made reservations and were seated right away. We had a vegan and a vegetarian in our group and they were easily able to accommodate them. The Seahawk bread is always awesome. Cream cheese, dill, shrimp, smoked salmon and havardi melted on a baguette. My meal came with soup or salad. I had the smoked salmon chowder-delicious. I had the ribeye and it was good. The add on shrimp was a tad too charred for my taste. The server was great. She brought out a cookie and ice cream with a candle for my husband birthday which was tasty. A few things I have learned over the years: Their corkage fee is $7.50, which is great since we have a cellar of wine and sometimes bring our own. The best thing they have is not listed on the menu. Get a side of crab risotto, it is about $10 and full of crab, creamy with a touch of lemon. You really need a reservation, it is really busy here. They accept walk ins but I heard them quoting an hour fifteen minutes for a wait last night. Overall it is great for the coast. Solid food, service, an amazing view and good prices.

Tidal Raves was one of our favorite restaurants in the past - not so any longer. Our server, Bryan, did not even tell us what the specials were. Our salad came and no offer was made for any freshly ground pepper. Greeting people as "you two" is definitely not proper. My wife's salmon was dry and tasteless. My mahi mahi fish and chips were also tasteless. Too many French fries were served. The cole slaw was good but that was the highlight of the meal. Sadly we can no longer recommend Tidal Raves.

Typical seafood restaurant on the Oregon Coast. Good seafood and a variety of other options, as well. The menu is quite big, even for lunch, but everyone was pleased with their selections. Generally it was a little too butter-heavy for my taste and the Asian items on the menu threw me for a loop.

Tidal Raves deserves all of the high marks they have been receiving - they are indeed the best restaurant in the area. My husband and I made reservations, (highly recommended) and visited twice during our week stay. We really enjoyed everything we had here - their drinks in particular are pretty spectacular. They even have barrel aged drinks, and the El Presidente is amazing. If you're in the area and looking for a place with a great view, great food and don't want to pay an astronomical amount, (Restaurant Beck) then Tidal Raves will suit you well.

Before I get into the food here, let's talk about the availability and the view. If you want to come here, you should make reservations AT LEAST 10 to 14 days ahead of time if you want to dine between 5 and 7. Otherwise you will be most likely be seated at 9 or 9:30 pm. The view of the bay is spectacular and if you are lucky enough to be here during sunset, you will be in awe! That being said, I do feel that they should have some sort of blind system on the windows as it gets very blinding during sunset! Now onto the food. We were here celebrating my partner's birthday, so I was trying to find great places to dine. I had made my reservations a week early so we were able to be seated at 6:30 (see paragraph one above). Upon being seated we were brought some water and our drink order was taken. We immediately knew that we wanted the Seahawk Bread and the Calamari, so we put in our appetizer order with our drink order. After a short while, our drinks arrived, and we were able to place our dinner order. About ten minutes after placing our dinner order, our appetizers arrived and they were quite tasty. The Seahawk break we ordered was a half order, so it was two slices of french baguette covered in bay shrimp, spices and cheese. We wasted no time in making this plate empty. The Calamari was cooked just right. Not too chewy, and lightly breaded. The aioli dipping sauce was fantastic with these tiny tentacles! My partner ordered the Dungeness Crab Casserole and I opted for the Dungeness Crab Cakes. When they arrived there was plenty of both and we were able to share a little of each. The casserole was creamy and had a nice palate. I was a little underwhelmed by the Crab Cakes though. I thought there might have been a bit more chunks of crab rather than shredded crab throughout. However, they were seasoned well and tasted great. After dinner we left room for dessert. I chose the Key Lime Pie and my partner went for the Bread Pudding. Both were terrific! The pie was just the right mix of sweet and tangy and the citrus sauce served on the side was a nice touch to cut the sweet as well. My partner rolled his eyes in pleasure at the first bite of Bread Pudding indicating that they had definitely hit the mark with this one. Price point is what you would expect to pay at a coastal dining establishment. I was surprised that our bill was under $100 though. This was a pleasant surprise! We will most likely stop back again the next time we are in Lincoln City area, and if you are going there, you should take the time to sample their offerings. You will be happy you did. BUT... Try to leave your small children at home if you can. This establishment welcomes families, but they take a little long to bring the food as it is all prepared fresh, so children, with their short attention span, find themselves quickly bored and entertain themselves at the expense of other diners, and to the frustration of their parents.

Went for lunch Wife had mahi mahi fish and chips grilled. 18 bucks. Fairly tasty but overpriced a salad was 2.50 more and was small. I had wild shrimp skewers with rice. Too much generic sauce on shrimp and rice was dry so so Probably try somewhere else next time

We both had the ribeye steak with shrimp skewer. Absolutely the best steak I've had on the oregon coast. A Great view and great service in a time when customer service is going away. A+

4.5-4.7 stars if given the option... Service was excellent. View was spectacular (no, seriously, eat here just for the view). Went here with the family. Appetizers: pan-fried oysters: pretty good, I don't like oysters and don't eat them often so I'm not really useful here. 1 pound of clams: excellent. The bread was a nice compliment, but the clams were fresh. The sauce they were served in was also delicious. Entrees: I had the herb-crusted rockfish with salmon potato cakes and clam chowder. Chowder was really good - not great - I'm from California so I have unattainable standards for chowder (Fisherman's Wharf). It was a bit too salty (but I often find stuff salty) Rockfish and salmon potato cakes was excellently done. You'd think that 2 soft items wouldn't compliment each other, but it was also served with green beans and capers which added a little crunch to every delicious bite. Sister had Halibut and Crab Risotto. She was very excited because the risotto actually HAD substantial chunks of crab. I liked the risotto as well, but the Halibut was a tad overcooked. Dad had Red Curry - I don't like mushrooms so I didn't try it Mom had the Green Curry with Rockfish - a bit salty, and heavy (although what can you expect from a coconut milk curry)? It was quite filling, and she didn't finish it. Portions are really well done. Not too big, and certainly not too small. Overall: Really good, I had a nice time here. The restaurant is clean and simple, and the staff is excellent. Food is generally great but salty, and some of the food is a bit on the heavier side. Would definitely go here again if I was in Depoe Bay.

Beautiful view, great food, friendly staff. We went early at the recommendation of our hotel clerk and only had to wait 15 min (5:45pm on a Monday) the view was stunning and a girl next to us saw a whale. I ordered the her crusted rock fish and was blown away by the presentation, balance in flavors, and gourmet taste.

Entree - wild salmon over crab risotto & vodka sauce - wow - soooo good! Pasta Rave - shrimp, crab, clams, fish & mushrooms over a pasta & sauce Really good value - all + drinks only $80!! This is a MUST If you visit Lincoln City

We went for lunch on April 9, the place was not busy, but the service was very bad. Our server Sara was rude, never checked back on the quality of the meal after throwing plates in front of us, never came back with refills on drinks. Food quality was ok, not really worth the price as the fish was over cooked. Let's not forget the host who was too busy on the phone to do his job right. The shinning star of the entire event was the bus boy. He did a better job than the rest of the staff taking are of customers.

After checking in to our hotel my boyfriend & I went to go check this place out since it has so many great reviews. We ended up getting there right after they turned off their open sign, but instead of turning us away, the host welcomed us in with open arms and a smile. Thankfully there were other people in the restaurant otherwise we would have left since we wouldn't want to the "those people" who make the staff stay and work longer just for us. The service was great. Our waitress checked on us frequently but not too much so Dave& I could enjoy our personal time. The food was really delicious. The clam appetizer was very flavorful. We split a salmon dish and overall I was please. The only negative thing was that there were a couple of bones still left in there, but it wasn't a big deal.. I didn't mind overlooking it especially since we got in there late. I wish we ate there during the day though. There's ocean views at all the seats however we couldn't see the awesome scenery since it was late in the evening. We will definitely come back again only this time during lunch!

My wife and I make this our restaurant of choice for special occasions. We have written very positive reviews but to keep things fair to the reader, we have to be honest when things don't go well also. On Father's Day we arrived at the restaurant for dinner. It took a little while for the waitress to get around to us. We ordered wine and dinner. Both of us love the crab casserole there and went with that option. After an acceptable wait, we got our salads which we both noticed were much smaller than past meals. Still the Caesar dressing made for a great salad. The waitress asked if we needed anything else an we reminded her about the wine. She apologized forgetting and went to get it. Our casseroles arrived and looked great. Once we started in, though, it was evident that it wasn't up to par, not even close. The crab was sparse and the cheese and noodles sat in a watery mess that bleached the taste out of the dish. It wasn't even OK. It was bad. We finished with key lime pie which, as usual, was excellent but again the serving seemed smaller than usual. We had to wait a while before she finally brought the check. I gave her my debit card and she returned shortly. The apologized and explained that she had run another customers meal on our debit card which she corrected but it "might be a few days before it goes through". So that is why the title. We will eat there again, of course, but if the quality problem persists, we will start looking elsewhere

I walked all over the restaurant looking for a signal just so I could check in and write this review! I love this restaurant. My family has been coming here whenever we're in the area since we moved to OR back in 1993. This time, it was my boyfriend and I who came for lunch. He grew up on the coast and had also been before. We had a beautiful window seat, split the Black Butte Porter steamer clams, a cup of clam chowder, and the sesame crusted scallop atop the udon salad. Both were delicious. My only complaint is that the clam chowder could have had more clams in it. I could taste the saltiness, but had to search for chunks. thanks so much for another great meal! I'll be back in Lincoln City with my whole family in August to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday. Hopefully we'll be able to come in!

Terrific views! Very good food and very good service. The location, on this cove, for some reason has great waves (rocks under the water?), plus plenty of visible rocks and unique shoreline. Very busy place, lots of people waiting when we left. Make a reservation.

On vacation, looking for some decent food in a small coastal town with few choices. Find this place and it's packed 45 minutes we are told to just get a table. Hungry but few options so we wait....... We are seated in 30 minutes. Ocean view table (they are all ocean view every one). I order steak at a restaurant obviously tailored to seafood.... It was fantastic! Cooked perfectly! I added prawns to the steak and they were excellent as well. If your ever in this small town you HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE. Service matched the food always available even when packed and very efficient. I hope you get the chance to try this place!

The bottom line: surprisingly classy joint, with a view you cannot beat. The dishes were evidently well thought through, and the service was very pleasant. The pros: the view. The view. The view. However, remember that if you come during sunset you will have the Suninere eyes, and we did see some diners with sunglasses :-) the food was also very good, however some of the dishes were hidden mess. We had a vegetarian salad and we added Sam into it. That was very good. We also had a stirfry dish. It was not unique. The cons: there are not many options for vegetarians, or for people who do not eat shellfish. Make sure to make a reservation if you are visiting during the weekend and especially during the high season, or else you want me to wait for quite a while.

Extremely helpful staff! I called to inquire about kids, to which the gentlemen who answered the phone replied, "We love kids!" When I mentioned we were from out of state, he offered to arrange for a window table. We were seated immediately upon arrival (4pm reservation on a Friday night) and the view was beautiful! I'm sure this place would be a great spot for a romantic dinner, but the staff was equally gracious and friendly to my 3yr old. The chowder was good, the crab cakes excellent, and my scallops were fantastic! The kitchen accommodated some dietary requirements of mine without making me feel like I was being an inconvenience. Oh, and whatever that decadent chocolately dessert I had still makes my mouth water every time I think of it.

Excellent spot for a steak! The ribeye and tenderloin are both amazing. Add a prawn skewer and you get some devine surf and turf! Get the smoked salmon chowder! I could probably eat a bathtub full of that stuff. Definitely puts clam chowder to shame. My husband and I were there the Sunday of labor day weekend so naturally it was busy. However our 30-45 minute wait turned into an hour and a half wait. The salmon chowder made it worth it. The restaurant really couldn't help it though, people were camping and watching whales from their beautiful ocean view dining room. I ordered a citrus drop (lemon drop) and nothing special about that. But they know how to pour a good whiskey coke! The only reason I'm going with 4 stars is the wait time for a table.

Beautiful view, love the Seahawk bread appetizer and Rock Fish Po' Boy. Dungeness crab casserole is also great for dinner and they have a good wine selection add well. Prices are a little on the high side, but the quality and view are worth it.

As we were making our way through Portland, local would ask us where we were headed. "Lincoln City," we'd say. And without fail, everyone we spoke with said we HAD to have a meal at Tidal Raves. So that sealed the deal. I called a few days ahead to make a reservation, and they said the only time they had left was 9:30. A bit late, but we'll take it. The dining room itself is teeny. I didn't count, but I would be surprised if they had more than 15 tables in the whole place. No matter where you sit, you get an amazing view of Depoe Bay. Our server was very friendly and professional. The crab cakes were delicious. Perfectly seasoned and wonderfully crispy. I can't remember what we all had, but I do remember that we were all very happy. My sis-in-law that the linguine with clams, and it was probably my favorite dish. The desserts are also very tasty. The peanut butter cup cheesecake was so rich I couldn't finish it. Tidal Raves lived up to everyone's recommendations. We'll definitely be back.

As you can see from pictures awesome views. This place gets 5-star as it was very affordable. Waitress actually made cocktails for us, very good. Salmon chowder - great. Clam chowder - great.

Every bit if our meal was to die for! We started off with the steamed clams, the sauce they were steamed in was so tasty we took it to go so we could dip bread in it. I got the herb encrusted rockfish, the flavors were amazing! My husband got the salmon chowder and it trumped any chowder we have ever had. His meal was the seared scallops and they were some of the best we have tasted as well. I imagine you will love anything you order.

Tidal Raves is pretty awesome - everything they make is excellent. My favorite is the halibut in green curry, but this is really a classy and awesome restaurant. The low review I saw said it was "typical"...No. Only the description on the menu seems typical, but the food is ALL from-scratch recipes and unique flavors. Try for a reservation or go earlier than you plan to eat, depending on the season and day of the week. It's a popular spot.

Great food and great wait staff! The only issue we have is that we feel like we are treated differently than locals. Three times we have felt this way (May '10, Oct '10, June '12). This is more of a host issue because when it came to seating and reservations, people walk in the door, welcomes by name and seated before us each time.

I live here in Depoe Bay....but I don't eat at all the local establishments. This is the exception. Tidal raves has a fantastic view and excellent food. If you drive through Depoe Bay it is worth a stop. I would give it 5 stars but the last few times I have had the se server who acted like we were a nuisance rather than a customer. Hey lady....if you hate your job... Then find a new one, and if you are pissed about low tips...read this sentence again!

Let me think..... Greek salad.....amazing Rock fish in green curry....wow Grilled red curry shrimp....delish Wine.....well chosen My chocolate chip birthday cookie......perfect Service......excellent excellent Loved the views, AND we got somewhat of a sunset, which by the exclamations of those around us, doesn't happen very often. Tidal raves was a perfect end to an already perfect week vacationing in oregon

Recently ate lunch at the Tidal raves and enjoyed most of the food. I felt the clam chowder was mostly potatoes and prices are high for lunch. The view is incredible so part of the experience is enjoying the amazing ocean view. The food is just above average. The staff are very friendly and the wine list is decent. Maryjane

Like the tides, I suspect the quality at this establishment goes in and out. Endowed with an outstanding view of the gorgeous rocky headlands in this part of the Oregon central coast, this restaurant is chatted up by locals and brochures alike as a true culinary gem on. Well, I see it slightly differently - first, some of the other lesser known restaurants in Depoe Bay and other nearby communities are actually above average for tourist-dominated stretches of America. And secondly, the hype is probably too strong for Tidal Raves to live up to. First - on arrival, despite a reservation, we had a good long wait to get seated (the hostess derisively noted that some people just would not get up and leave. While perhaps an accurate observation it didn't speak well about how she felt about customers!). Second - the space, with fantastic glass panes overlooking the bay, is everything one wants in a view, the IHOP standard tables and industrial carpet do not exactly improve the atmosphere. Third - loud. Loud, loud, loud. Not Manhattan open kitchen loud, just small space loud customers loud. We had trouble having a conversation and found that we wanted to rush through to be out of the cacophony. Fourth- the food. The house salad with shrimp contained numerous small, but flavorless and limp, shrimp with some basic mixed greens. The udon with scallops was a real Frankenstein, with about four competing cuisines dolloped at will on the noodles (completely soft) and two (nice) scallops. The best part of the meal was the non-local Mahi Mahi fish tacos, which could stand up to most examples of this type. Service was fine once seated, our waitress was efficient and prompt. Wines by the glass turned out to be more miss than hit; of the 6 varieties available in reds, only two were local to the northwest (one WA, one OR), and both were forgettable. All in all, I would rather we had returned to a few of our previous stops in Depoe Bay or Waldenport. Faster service and comparable or better food at both if you're eating in Depoe Bay.

Whenever I'm in town usually visiting my brother in Lincoln city. We always make a point of stopping to have some of their oyster bisque it is absolutely wonderful it's very busy so you'll have to make reservations but it is well worth the wait. Service and the ambience is great and you have a wonderful view of the ocean right on the cliff don't miss out

Great food, great atmosphere, nice background music, and great service at very reasonable prices. Late afternoon lunch, so no problem getting in and seated promptly at a window seat with a great view! In fact, I think virtually all seats have a good view of some spectacular surf. My wife had razor clams. Too much breading, but the steaks were substantial and very good. Her chowder was tasty and rich, but lacking in clams. Her Scotch & soda was an excellent, generous pour. I had a mixed seafood alfredo that was chock full of very good seafood. I'm not a big salmon fan, but even that was moist, tender, and fresh tasting. My spinach soup was to die for. And, I like their demi French loaves. Definitely will go there again when in the area. In fact, we'll go twice and save getting screwed by Mo's in Newport!

This didn't start off well... The weather turned from cloudy to a downpour and we were eager to get out of the elements. After enjoying the view of Depoe Bay Harbor and the spouting horns, it was an easy walk to Tidal Raves. The recommendation came from a docent at the Whale Watching Center, which is another great place to visit when the weather turns foul. The view is absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, once we walked in the door pretty close to 12:00p, it took about 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the staff. I don't know if it was a fluke that there was no host at the entrance, but I see others have had seating issues. We were fortunate that a table by the window was available. There is something about this particular vantage point that makes me think of Cape Cod. Probably the style of houses perched on the nearby cliff. At a place like this, you worry that the food will only be mediocre because the view is so outstanding. There were two items that we ordered that were so good, it totally blew that thought out of the water. For our appetizer, we selected a half order of the Seahawk Bread. It is a baguette toasted with smoked salmon, cream cheese, havarti, shrimp and onion. Since it is so rich, warm and gooey, a half order was more than enough to share. I ordered the Halibut Burger (grilled) with onion crisps and pesto mayo. Normally I would have thought it was very good, but once I tried Mr. K's Green Curry with Halibut, I had such an intense case of plate envy, I didn't even want to eat my meal. It was our favorite dish of the entire weekend. Our service was OK once we were seated. The kids meals were reasonably priced at $4.00 which includes a drink. BUT.... the drink comes in a teeny, tiny juice glass and there are no refills. No big deal, but nice to know in advance. Our lunch entrees were $12 - 13. It really saves to visit a nicer restaurant for lunch rather than dinner. A few outstanding elements push this to a four and a few quibbles keep it from being a five. Since this is normally a very popular spot, I would recommend getting a reservation for one of those prized window tables in advance. For lunch.

Casually creative seafood cuisine overlooking the Pacific Food: Two of us shared our dinners - one three course pris fixe for only $18, great deal, and one soup and entree. Alder smoked oysters were a special treat that we will come back to have again. Large shrimp with pasta, tomatoes and garlic hit the spot. Vanilla bean ice cream and hazelnut cookies were outrageous. The house soup, spinach oyster soup, was quite tasty. The star of the evening for me was the green curry -filled with yummy veggies and shrimp and rockfish and rice with a divine peanut sauce sort of on the side. Sounds good, right? Tastes so, so much better, and I just can't find the words to do it justice. Service: Our server was pleasant, helpful, and there when we needed her. Couldn't ask for more. Atmosphere: very casual, but still nice. We were there for dinner so we enjoyed the nearly full moon rather than the ocean view. Not too crowded or noisy on a Wednesday night out of season.

Our wine tasting hostess recommended this place and made a reservation for us (Hint: you need a reservation). We arrived and were given the choice of a table now, or a table by the window in 15 minutes. Of course, we took the latter! Service here was amazing, so friendly and gracious. I had clam chowder, and it was nicely flavored and textured. My husband had a smoked salmon chowder that he raved about. My dinner was just okay, a slightly overdone, thin rib-eye (because I really needed red meat), and some vegetables that were just okay, but my husband loved his crab casserole, he wanted to rate it 5 stars, but I wasn't quite there. We did have a lovely view of the ocean, and great service. I would recommend sticking to seafood, though!

My friend and I drove up the coast from Florence, and stopped in for lunch here. Their WOW-factor is clearly the oceanside views. We were seated fairly quickly at a table backlit with a large window, and the roaring ocean as a backdrop on this cloudy day. We ordered - Fish Tacos grilled mahi mahi with corn tortillas, cilantro dressed cabbage,, roasted pepper rice, pico de gallo and black beans (available spicy fried) ... 13- and Large Wild Shrimp (6) garlic sautéed with pilaf or beer battered with fries... 14- Food was good; seafood tasted fresh, and wasn't "fishy". My friend and I decided to each split our dishes with one another, so they were nice enough to provide us with extra plates. Service was prompt, yet a little too standard to me for this price point. This is why I say service was "too standard". They made sure to come back a minute later with the obligatory, "...how is everything?" For example - I ordered coffee with my meal. They weren't very on top of things with refilling my cup with Joe! ...and after we ordered, it seemed more difficult to flag someone down for additional service - as if they figured that as soon as we ordered the food, their job was done! Still, they were pretty good overall, and would come here again. If it weren't for their lack of spot-on service, though, I would have given this place 4-stars.

Ok so whale watching while you eat, is probably worth 5 stars alone, but the food I had was really good too! I was here for lunch & had the snapper poboy. It was huge & yummy. I ended up just eating the fish off the second half. The cornmeal batter was amazing & the fish was moist. It was a good size fillet. No skimping. I also had the key lime pie, which I was very happy with. The quality exceeded my expectations, the service was friendly & the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely stop in again if I'm in the area.

Here's the thing. It was a gorgeous summer afternoon. We and enjoyed our lunch while WATCHING WHALES SWIMMING AROUND PRACTICALLY RIGHT OUTSIDE THE WINDOW WE WERE SITTING NEXT TO. Sorry, the whales make me all shoutycaps. We made a reservation and requested to be seated by the window, and it happened, so big ups for that. I did notice though, that the restaurant is designed such that most, if not all, of the seating has at least SOME kind of view access. Nice job on that. As it happens, I also really enjoyed my food. I started with the black bean soup (it came with my entree) and it was delicious. Nothing mind-blowing, not a reinvention of the black bean or anything, but very good. My entree was the Red Curry BBQ'd shrimp (on skewers), served on a coconut risotto cake with sauteed vegetables. I thought the portion size was good for the money, and it was all delicious. I thought the preparation/combination here worked well. For a drink I had a "Twisted Meniscus" IPA made in Eugene (yum), and for dessert, which I took home for later, I had a nutty/chocolatey/caramelly little round cake thing (SOOOO RICH) served with a whiskey creme kind of sauce (sorry, I can't remember all the proper and more culinarily poetic names of the desserts). Also very tasty. The seafood entree was the main thing. That, and THE WHALES SWIMMING AROUND RIGHT THERE!!! Sorry. Shoutycaps again. Forgive me.

Not to the food yet, but ask for a Kentucky mule! Same process as a Moscow mule, but with Bourbon instead of Vodka. Add a copper cup and this might be the best I have ever had. You're welcome.

Good chowder (but not as good as Gracie's down the street). Great view. The atmosphere is a little 1990's hotel brunch. This is a good choice for a nice lunch with family or clients. You'll be happy with what you ordered, but it won't be memorable or innovative.

If anything, come here for the view especially during sunset hours. They do take walk-ins and our wait was less than 20 minutes at around 6pm on a weekend. - Cioppino was delicious! - Oysters pan fried was also a great treat. - The peel shrimp starter is interesting... I expected a bucket, but understand that for that price (cheap!), it was just 4-6 pieces. - The scallops are fresh and worth getting; however! the starter scallop which has 2 pieces is significantly cheaper than the main course scallop which has 3 pieces... We opted for the starter scallop as it seemed like a better deal. The cold udon is really just a plate filler and not worth my stomach's time.... but the scallops were fresh and a good deal! I am not sure about the sesame crust.... Id rather enjoy just the scallop nicely seared. - Get their special gimlet! Okay, so all in all, a great deal! nothing too mind blowing, except the view.

We placed an order to go, to have dinner back at the inn, a quiet lovely dinner with an ocean view, like tidal Raves. We ordered smoked salmon chowder, and seahawk bread. Last time we ordered it it was thick with salmon, herbs.. And we were anticipating another delightful soup experience. We were disappointed. It tasted like potato soup with liquid smoke, no pieces of smoked salmon or herbs. It was one dimensional. The bread is a good start, but the onions were crunchy. In my opinion a few caramelized onions would have lent a more complex taste and complimented the shrimp, salmon and cheese. Based on past experiences, good food, great prices, friendly wait staff and a killer view!

Went the other night - waited an hour, front house staff were friendly and accommodating - then were seated. Fifteen minutes passes, no waitress welcome or anything - even though our waitress was helping a table right next to us, completely ignored. Had to get up and ask someone to take our order. Waitress came along, made a poor excuse, and got frustrated by our questions regarding a few menu items. Salmon Chowder came out - no smoked salmon to be found, honestly, none. Clam chowder came out - overly salty. Didn't finish either, never asked by the wait staff as to why. Then, dinner (Panko fried oysters and rockfish in a caper sauce). Oysters were ok, nothing special - vegetables that we ordered instead of the fries were watered down and oily. Fish was good quality and cooked well but the sauce was so oily and separated that it looked more like a coastal oil spill than an edible entree. The fish was atop of a watery vegetable mess with what the place calls a "potato smoked salmon cake", more like a oily potato mound of slop...again, no sign of smoked salmon in that either! Overly pricey, beautiful view, poor waitress attitude, long wait, poor food execution, but front house staff made us feel welcomed at least. Never will return. If you want better food with friendlier service drive to Newport and check out Local Ocean.

Can't rate this restaurant on its food. We waited almost 2 hours to be seated and finally gave up and left for another restaurant. Hostess was doing her best but crazy and chaotic waits even with reservations beware!!!!! Staff could do more to placate waiting guests or hire more staff to handle busy coastal weekend nights. Was unacceptable and will likely hinder us from ever dining here.

It's easy to see why the Tidal Raves is rated as the best restaurant in Depoe Bay. I'd give it 5 stars but my rating system doesn't allow any 5 stars unless they are over-the-top excellent. Everything my wife and I ordered was top notch. Our waitress and the wait staff in general were excellent. The menu is innovative with something for everyone, whatever your tastes. Tidal Raves is head and shoulders above the other highly rated restaurants in Depoe Bay. With a week to spend here, we will be back w/o a doubt.

Last three times would have been a 5, but today, not so much. Maybe we looked underdressed? We were seated at the only table witha limited view, while the three couples that followed were seated at the window. The chowders (clam and salmon) were ok, but not up to past standards. The ciapino was likewise lackluster, as if the fish was added so late they were only visiting. And as we left the hostess ignored us, not "thanks for coming, kiss my foot, etc". The 3 reflects my hope this was an aberration.

We've eaten here before and it is still very good. The calamari was light and crispy with a great sweet and spicey sauce but what really got me this time was the Kentucky bourbon hard sauce with the bread pudding...to die for.

We had a great meal I was glad that they had the traditional golden fried food as well as things far fancier. I got the mixed platter but Steph chose a crusted halibut on a root veggie hash. We had clam chowder it tastes like it was made with the broth the clams were cooked in. So you know that it was made from scratch. The chowder is 8/10. Even the bread was good. I will tell friends about tidal raves. We showed up late and didn't have to wait.

This restaurant truly deserves a minimum of 4 stars. Three of us had lunch there yesterday, sitting at a window table with an amazing view. We had the chicken caprese sandwich (for the non-seafood eater), the beer battered shrimp and the pasta with seafood special. Wine by the glass was tasty and well-priced. All of us LOVED what we had. Service was great - very professional - but not overly solicitous which I appreciate, just there when needed. Prices were surprisingly reasonable for a place with such good food, stunning views and wonderful service.

I have eaten here many times. The first reason I love it is the view. You can't get a better view of the ocean at any restaurant on the Oregon Coast. You get to watch the waves crash in to the shore and there is a good chance to see whales too. The food and service is great. They have fun adult drinks to choose from also. If you are heading south on 101 don't stop in Lincoln City, keep heading the short distance down the coast to Tidal Raves.

This place came highly recommended to me from family members in Portland. The restaurant is set up in such a way that every seat has a beautiful view of the bay. The wait staff was very professional and friendly. We ordered the Smoked Salmon Chowder which was absolutely delicious. Their clam chowder was also among the best I've had on the coast. The Key Lime Pie was spectacular. I wish we would have tried more dishes!

gluten-free friendly, dairy free is also easily done. good food and great service. great view of the bay. the cioppino is nontraditional with veggies in it and is greasy. edible but i wouldn't order it again. the steamers are delicious and can be made with broth instead of beer. the margarita with chili-infused tequila is amazing!

Do you enjoy delicious food, professional service, romantic views and good prices? Then this should be your go-to restaurant for trips to the Oregon Coast, easily accessible from both Lincoln City and Newport. I suggest making a reservation and only bringing well-behaved children. The menu has a surprising array of dining options and portions, which is really nice if you want to try a variety or go for a full-on meal. Everything was delicious. We had the steamed clams for an appetizer, then the spinach lobster bisque and the smoked salmon chowder. For dinner, we had the inventive udon with scallops and the best cioppino I've ever had. If only we had saved room for dessert! Portions were quite generous and accompanied by bread. Accustomed to Portland dining prices, we went all out and were amazed that our meal was far less than we had intended to spend - even with some bubbly! Our server was extremely attentive, flexible and informative. Thank you! We'll be seeing you again

So great food. Open for those late lunches/early dinners which is when we were there. We were seated on the balcony on our first visit and by the window on our second. Bring your sunglasses, sit by the windows. The birds and other sea creatures that were visible were fabulous. The service came off a little snotty the first time but the second waitress was great. The food was fabulous. Smoked salmon chowder? yes please! The Pacific Snapper was fabulous. The fried oysters were good. The burgers were a hit with our family members who prefer food by land than by sea. The tiramasu was a great finish. If you're in the area give it whirl.

We haven't found truly good food on the coast of Oregon. Even the fresh seafood that this location prides itself on isn't prepared well. This place is better than most but no winner. Clam chowder was watery, had some potatoes, nice flavor and zero seafood, at least in my cup of soup. Crabcakes were like crab patties with crab all mooshed up rather than a lot of crab chunks. oyster powboy was decent. This is a 2.5 star place based on Chicago standards, but on the coast of OR maybe it's a 4, but I couldn't bring myself to give it a 4. Local people need to learn and appreciate better quality food.
